One way around could be to register it in the UK... ;) Title: Re: 210HP '72 late looker for sale Post by: Carsten on March 27, 2019, 00:04:38 am What has changed with the law in belgium? Your car could be legal in germany...!?

Title: Re: 210HP '72 late looker for sale Post by: Carsten on April 03, 2019, 17:52:38 pm Can you not try to get your car street legal in germany, registrate it in germany and then bring it back to belgium with all the Modifications in the papers?
That was the way they did. it years ago !? Title: Re: 210HP '72 late looker for sale Post by: richie on April 03, 2019, 18:02:58 pm For example, upgrading your brakes from drum brakes to disc brakes is illegal... well, that's just plain stupid. That really is insane, with our recent mot changes they have encouraged any modifications that make car safer like brake& suspension upgrades Good luck with the sale of car anyway :) cheers Richie Title: Re: 210HP '72 late looker for sale Post by: Andrew on April 04, 2019, 20:32:21 pm We should thank the Federation of British Historic Vehicles Clubs, I think it is. Anyway, they lobbied heavily to make the historic vehicle changes sensible.

Anyway, they lobbied heavily to make the historic vehicle changes sensible. yeah, you should. They are slowly killing the hobby here in the Flemish part of Belgium... :( We are a bit more lucky in Wallonia, at least for that ::) . The guy at the MOT station will decide if your car is eligible for an old timer registration, free of annual control. The car has to be perfectly stock and well maintained though. They do have a few knowledges about VW aircooled and don't accept welded adjusters on afront beam for example. Drop spindles are ok. I had once a MOT guy telling me that I should have drums instead of disc brakes. I told him they were OEM from a 1500 model and I did the swap after I lose my drum brakes due to a pond of water on the highway and will never go back. He agreed. Some of them are assholes, others are more open. One was upset because of my dual carbed engine, but couldn't say nothing because it pass the smog test easily, and the next one, who did the brakes, keep on giving it some gas to rev it a bit more than necessary and told me it was sounding great. Go figure. |
