Title: DRLA diaphragm plate size
Post by: pupjoint on April 26, 2019, 06:59:39 am
Looking to order some diaphragms for my DRLAs, I notice there are 2 types, 19mm and 22mm plates.

my old ones are 22mm and they are a bit hardened.

whats the difference between the 2 types? Does the size of the plates matter?

There is early and late model DRLA'S. I would just order the size you have now.

When I first read this post I was a bit confused and did not know what you were talking about. I did a quick google and of course alfa's ebay add came up and I read what he was offering. This sent me to the garage to have a look at what I have and can tell you I have a mix of 16mm and 22mm center plate diaphragms and I don't think you will notice a difference between any of them. The plate size does not effect fitment, I would think in a lab environment it may effect pump shot volume a little bit.

thanks I just got some ordered. found out I did not have any diaphragm springs inside the carbs and I have driven them about 3200 miles like that. I took the carbs out for cleaning/maintainence and changing the plugs out.

No spring, that is tricky. Hopefully the springs and new diaphragms will get you all fixed up.
