Title: Un even rear suspension
Post by: Garrick Clark on May 20, 2019, 15:13:34 pm
Hi . I have a 67 bug.
Swing axle.
I think the inner spline mount for the torsion bar is looking like it's gunna strip which will let the bar rotate. A bit Dangerous really.
So what is the remedy to this.

Years ago I saw an adjustable torsion bar adjuster that welded in the middle of the torsion housing near the shift coupler. . Here is a video to give you an idea ,    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u38i1g1VT6k

Hope I don't have to go that route. Looks a bad job to do

Its definitely the fit between the inner spline mount in the chassis and the spline end of the bar. I think the splines on the end of the bar are too small.

I have. It's fine now. So beware when buying Sway away torsion bars.

I have sway a way bars.

I put grease on the splines as they felt loose.

OK now.
