Title: 1385 supercharged engine Post by: samotorsport on April 26, 2020, 21:19:23 pm So it is time to build a new engine for my 67 Herbie
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/96ddbcc84592e2dab4ba8d8cc76cbc48.jpeg) It was my first aircooled project , some things i wouldn’t do nowadays anymore. For example the engine lid is a 65 now , one day it is going to be all 67 again , but thats not the point right now :) It needs a new engine for next year as the one installed right now is almost done. The base is a 1200 cc industrial engine. Going to be a big bore 1385 cc engine (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/da64121a7b405b70423f657cdef41109.jpg) Stock 64 mm crank and con rods . 83 mm Pistons Case is already prepared for full flow (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/8f9947934525a9521df497eaa5a26174.jpg) And the fuelpump place is prepared to support the supercharger bracket (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/69cb575d79b14dca759ba58823dc7475.jpg) The charger is going to be an AMR500 , fed by a 40 DCOE , but my idea is to only use it as a cool looking throttle body and the fuel is going to be injected by a free programable EFI . (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/aa2e4755511ae605fee6b008b2b375ce.jpg) The heads are going to be 1300 DP , they need a full rebuild , seats guides out , wekding up cracks and so on , so plenty to do (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/07017b6228247bbb9f340559f382ab16.jpg) (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/bfbed5d22fd2933843e28fcdecec6d3f.jpg) (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/9f20aeadc1c88b6ee1d9b34ad7dd81c3.jpg) Camshaft remains stock EFI most probably a Speeduino . My goal is to have a oldschool looking supercharger setup (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200426/5e9fe25db06fc6c3f8cb8e8e01b2de03.jpg) But running just like a stock modern engine . Title: Re: 1385 supercharged engine Post by: andy198712 on April 26, 2020, 21:47:35 pm nice, what are your plans for charge cooling? are you injecting before or after the SC?
Title: Re: 1385 supercharged engine Post by: samotorsport on April 26, 2020, 21:51:02 pm My plan is to inject as close to the inlet valve as possible .
I plan on modifying stock inlet elbows by welding on aluminium adapters to put nozzles on them . No cooling is planned , max boost will be 15 psi / 1 bar . I hope to be around 90 hp and good torque , max 5000 rpm Title: Re: 1385 supercharged engine Post by: andy198712 on April 27, 2020, 10:08:26 am My plan is to inject as close to the inlet valve as possible . Thats gonna be a really nice drive! have you seen this? https://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=151261&start=195 its a 1300 with AMR500 Title: Re: 1385 supercharged engine Post by: samotorsport on April 27, 2020, 10:11:45 am Yes i know about the original injected ones , they may be hard to find around here.
But i got elbows , aluminium and a welding machine . Will see which way to go . No i didn t know that built , but will have a closer look to it for sure . Are you going to keep stock sizes? Title: Re: 1385 supercharged engine Post by: samotorsport on May 04, 2020, 12:48:39 pm Yes stock size valves , hd single springs
