Title: Slick width selection.
Post by: RUSS74GHIA on May 26, 2020, 09:01:12 am
Hi all.
Is there a ‘rule of thumb’ when it comes to choosing what width slick to go for?

I know this will very much depend on set up, so every car will be different.

My old 170bhp/145ftlb motor was more than happy on my Phoenix 6W26, I could run them at 20psi and they didn’t even need warming.

My new motor is 280bhp/300ftlb and obviously I’m wondering if they will keep, or if I’ll need to go up to proper 7s or even 8s.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, but that’s not really what I was asking. It was more along the lines of 6” up to 250bhp, 7” up to 350bhp and so on.

You should do with your 6" Wide (7 ")
 ON my old one had only 351hp @ 411Nm with a weight of 850 kg low 10 on 402 (60 F 1,43)

I think Matt Keene ran a 24.5" slick on All Torque, and that went well into the nines.
