Title: Cut and shut 67 street car Post by: RobtheManx on February 07, 2021, 08:41:26 am This project started in my usual way ....feeling sorry for some beaten up old car .
Resto Johnny advertised this 67 sunroof bug on the lounge cheap . I bought it as a bare shell with doors . But after talking to my shipper it became apparent that shipping an entire shell would be impossible to ship without paperwork ......So I got it chopped in half! The front half came over in a 76 Ford van . The rear end in a C10 pickup truck . Once back in the UK I put the 2 halves back together on a solid 67 pan . I IRS'd the pan , all the running gear has been mostly been put together from stuff lying around from previous projects . I made a set of flared fenders , bonnet and engine lid in a similar blue . Next it'll be off to Jim at Cotsweld for a cage . Motor will be a Richie Webb nitrous special . Hoping to be out on the track this year .... if we're allowed ! Title: Re: Cut and shut 67 street car Post by: RobtheManx on February 07, 2021, 09:01:04 am The shell is perfectly solid but has lots of dents . It's originally zenith blue . The interior is still original paint the the exterior has had a poor repaint . I've polished up the paint as best I can but will be leaving it as it is . The front end had a bit of a shunt at some point ....Maybe what caused the repaint . My friend Tim at Roadhouse Motor Co is gonna come and straighten in out a bit for me .
The project is just meant to be a cheap fun street/strip car , no more shiny paint cars for me ! They tale too much looking after . Cheers Rob Title: Re: Cut and shut 67 street car Post by: leec on February 07, 2021, 19:29:48 pm Looks like a really cool project. Did you cut through windscreen pillars and heater channels?

I did reply to your wanted advert but never heard back. Edit Just seen Richie's reply

Did you cut through windscreen pillars and heater channels? Lee And didn't roof chop it? :o No , I've barely got the skills to weld the 2 halves back together . Let alone chop it! Plus I'd have to paint it then ! Looks like a fun project Rob! Title: Re: Cut and shut 67 street car Post by: RobtheManx on July 03, 2021, 07:25:23 am 67 is back from Cotsweld racecars . To say I'm pleased is an understatement . The work is beautiful and the seat position is perfect and the window net fitment is a work of art . Frame horns , torsion bars and shock towers all tied in to the cage so no need for a trapeze bar .
Next job is to fix my leaky brake system and then start bolting it all together! Title: Re: Cut and shut 67 street car Post by: VWGlassee on July 08, 2021, 14:39:24 pm Wauw! Great craftsmanship 8)
