Title: consoles!! Post by: Diederick/DVK on November 16, 2007, 05:02:40 am now that many are starting topics of their own about many many things, i figured... i might as well be part of the queue!
what's everyone's view on consoles! i realize you don't really see them very often, but still i think they're pretty 70s - as in the history of cal-look... ideally, i'd put some gauges in there and make it look really sleek, but i have no idea of the looks of it back then. does anyone? feel free to post pics! As i like the 80's kinda callook i would like my dash all welded shut and then an array of VDO Cockpit gauges in it. Looked awful, interfered with my right foot. Remember those gawd awful velour Scat consoles of the 80's. To me the VW cabin is already cramped enough. Why make it worse? We used to sell a ton of those Scat things at BH back in the day. the owner's son had one in his ivory Cal Look squareback.

One is with four holes to install gauges and the second is the same like in the picture , without speaker and i paid around $150 for each . this console is really the final part for the gtv interior ;)

That one was for a type 3, won't fit a type 1. and where does that go? under the dashboard in place of the original location of the radio? if it does that is quite ugly! besides with that speaker, you might as well look for an original one and have that installed that would give the same sound. i don't really like them, but i do have a parceltray and i must say i am glad to have some extra place to put papers and stuff. |
