Does anyone have pics off Rick Mortensen's blue 67 on BRM's?
Read a article about it in Volksworld in the mid 90ies... but without good pictures.

He doesn't still have it. I soooo nearly bought it and shipped it to the UK, but it didnt work out. The motor, tranny and brakes were all down graded for the sale, so I didnt go through with it. I think Rick said it was sold to someone local to him. Excellent car and top bloke.

It was featured in the Feb. 1996 issue of Hot VWs.  I know because our cars were shot on the same day by R.K.

Was your car also in that issue? I think that is farther back than my collection goes though.

I have that issue laying next to my bed.  Great write up on two cool cars.  And the '67 vert isn't bad, also.  Rick M seems to be a very knowledgeable guy, I bought my 90.5 Bs from him and got a chance to talk to him on the phone briefly.

Yeah my car was in that issue as well.  The convertible belonged to Bob Hole of Sacramento Bug-A-Rama fame.  He also owns Bugformance in Sacramento.  I love that issue, but then I am biased.

I remember how cool it was to park with you and Rick @ Solvang in 1996. Both very nice cars. Glad you still have yours, Don.

Thanks Jim, I enjoyed it as well.  I still have the photo somewhere of all the BRM cars lined up, yours included.  Yeah I still have mine.  I will probably have it until I die.  My wife has instructions to accept nothing less than $14k for it.  If I live for a while longer the price might have to go up.  That price would only cover the engine, transmission and wheels.  Remember that old Berg stuff doesn't come cheap.

Humm, make note to monitor Don B's health.  :P J/K you will be driving that thing for a long time.

I was looking for the issue with your car's in it. Didn't find it but I did however come across the writeup of the 3rd Berg Cruise. (And the trailer queen.) Still makes me want to go drive my car.

Yeah that trailer queen was piece of work.  Even the cops that arrived on the scene thought she was crazy.  Her husband showed up and even he couldn't quiet her down.  Good memories, wow that was a long time ago.  Louis did you say you couldn't find the Feb. '96 issue or that you don't have it.  I have extras (now I wonder why that is?).

I don't seem to have it. For some reason I have VWT back to 94 but my HVWs only go back to 97.

Okay here you go.  The first one is outside my house about 6:00AM just before leaving on the 1997 Gene Berg Cruise.  The second one was taken at the Hoover Dam on the Arizona side before crossing into Nevada.  The third one is on the Road to Salt Lake City.  Those clouds in the distance finally got us and we got drenched.  All were taken on the '97 Berg Cruise.

DONT GET A BRA!! Besides looking retarded, they will rub the paint right off your car, looking much worse than stone chips ever will. Wear your stone chips with pride!! ;D

The color is Bold Caribbean Teal.  It is a VW Eurovan color.

Nice looking cars! That first picture has great lighting.

The lighting is good because it is very early in the morning, probably just before sunrise.

Hi everyone!  Anyone that wants shots of my 67 is welcome to email me. I have a bunch. I'll also be glad to answer any questions you have of it.  You can still view me doing a burnout on OCEAN STREET VIDEOs Burnout Downloads.  It is titled the nicest street bug ever! How funny.  I thought it was just a cool car and fun to screw around with V8 owners with.

Donny B and I had one of the most enjoyable times of our life in 1997 when we drove our cars from Arizona to Salt Lake City, joined Art Thraen and some others and drove to Auburn Hills, Michigan and back.  5200 mile round trip with a 2110 motor, Dean Lowry heads, Porsche Length/Porsche jounal H beam rods hung on my 82mm stroker crank. The PAUTER Cam was driveable but still a 13.90 car.  I built it to be a traditional Cal Looker like the cars we built in the 70's.  In fact, if you visit the Nostalgia portion of the Cal Look forum, there are pics I send to the webmaster from the early days of the Bug In and I posted a couple shots of my early white 67 with the traditional plaid interior too.

As for bra's,  forget ZAK's comments.  Mine stayed on my 67 for 5200 miles, with the exception of the shot stops and never rubbed the paint off.  If you buy crap you get crap results.  I paid for a top quality bra and the time and it was fine.  It was lined with a special backing and never hurt the paint. The cars paint job is 12 years old today and the GLAZURIT paint still looks good except for minor flaws. A friend locally bought the car and takes great care of it.

The first shot was in Wisconsin, at a dealership show. The second is my 2110 with IDAs. The third is my wife Anne driving the 67 somewhere in the midwest and I am riding with Art THraen in his 66 getting the picture. You may recognize the lady sitting in the passenger seat. It is none other than close friend Dee Berg, who was having too much fun with Anne in my car! The fourth shot shows my wicked traditional Cal Look stance...that I worked hard to get while building the car. The last shot is one of me at my own 1997 Spring Bug-O-Rama, the month before driving to Detroit, doing a burnout in my streetable 67.  It was the traditional 2nd gear smokem till they blow burnout!

Yes...my 67 is one of the cars that rotates on the CAL LOOK FORUM.  It has appeared in a couple shots in Keith Seume's books too.  He has a shot of my IDA motor, my front neal disc brakes and miscellaneous. Can't remember which book...since he has so many.
