Title: Carbon cabrio Post by: richie on December 24, 2022, 20:03:39 pm As i have posted previously I have been making a few carbon parts last couple years, with a lack of racing this year due to parts supply issues I had some extra time so continued making more moulds and then carbon cabrio pieces.
This week i finished the last piece of the puzzle to enable me to complete a carbon cabrio to replace the steel body on my race car. Here's a few pics of it from today :) cheers Richie Title: Re: Carbon cabrio Post by: Steve D. on December 25, 2022, 05:31:01 am I like street-friendly exhaust. :)

I know you put quite a few extra weights in the metal one to balance it out, I am curious to see how much less (or differently) it will be. Title: Re: Carbon cabrio Post by: jay c on December 28, 2022, 12:06:38 pm I know it will get painted but it looks mean as hell as it is. Awesome work
Title: Re: Carbon cabrio Post by: hotstreetvw on December 30, 2022, 15:53:51 pm another level!

Thank you all, there is more to come still though, then eventually when I am happy with it yes I will probably paint it, will stay raw carbon for a while though :) Title: Re: Carbon cabrio Post by: Bruce on January 01, 2023, 11:39:41 am ..... I will probably paint it, Paint adds weight. Title: Re: Carbon cabrio Post by: richie on January 05, 2023, 08:28:49 am Speaking of weight, any idea what it's currently at, and how much was lost over the old steel body? Yes, and yes sort of. It weighs 277lb less than when I ran the 7, I have made some other changes so that is probably not totally down to the carbon body cheers Richie Title: Re: Carbon cabrio Post by: andrewlandon67 on January 05, 2023, 17:36:18 pm Speaking of weight, any idea what it's currently at, and how much was lost over the old steel body? I can't wait to see what it does next, and I'm sure you're looking forward to that too! Title: Re: Carbon cabrio Post by: PPRMicke on January 05, 2023, 19:06:39 pm carbon fiber usually reduces the weight a lot
But it usually takes a few kilos of lead because it won't be easy at the front My carbon fiber front only weighs 5.6 kilos So you know how much Richie has reduced the weight of the car [attachment=1] Title: Re: Carbon cabrio Post by: explorer on January 11, 2023, 16:21:31 pm Very nice Richie.
