Title: S&S Header info needed
Post by: Glauco on May 24, 2025, 13:33:25 pm
I need some experts advice on S&S headers. I have 2 1-1/2 merged headers, but one has the 2 front tubes connected to the front collector and the other just has one. Once mounted they are exactly the same. Can anyone tell me witch came first?
My guess is the one with the single tube on the collector because all the newer once you can still buy today have 2 tubes connected.

Thanks
Glauco

I think you are correct.
I know of one SS header for type1 and that seems to be from the 90s or 00s. my type3 SS header also has both tubes detachable. that is from the early 2000s

I'm not completely sure that I am correct. The one I have the longest came from Michiel who bought it from a guy that took it of of a KG that came from the states. The second one couldn't give me any info because he got it with a buggy without any extra info.
It's just strange to me that all the other collectors I've seen come with the first two bends connected and four loose tubes. None of the ones I saw are with one complete tube connected and three lose tubes.

I bought a S&S 1 5/8 with a twin quite pack in the 1990's with one tube welded and 3 loose. I had asked for it to be suitable for a wide engine (86 stroke, B pistons) so maybe that is why?
