Title: Rev Limiter for Vertex Magneto Post by: Ole on March 10, 2006, 00:31:14 am I need to get a Rev-Limiter for my engine. It has a Vertex Magneto, the Tach is an old Autometer.

I guess my Magneto is the OAC type, right? Muchas gracias, Ole Hi Ole, Yes you'll need the ATM-5302 unit, Nico is using the same one in the muppet racer and we just ordered one for Fred Twins to... Concerning OAC and OXC it's internal and external magneto Coils.... To further complicate things I use a VDO 80mm rev counter and a converter from Autometer, called 9118. I contacted Autometer to find out how you use the pro controller with the 9118... but they didn't know. So I gave it my best shot... the revcounter works just fine, but I can't get the pro controller to kick in..?! I don't feel that a magneto converted Monster 5" would fit in my car... so If you find out anything that could help me Ole, I would appreciate it. Wireing gave some headache because the Pro-Control can be used for several tasks. Shout if You need any help when installing it.

Jon, my tach is the type for Magnetos, no converter needed. That means I can see it from the marks on the pistons AND on the tach, when I missed gear... ::) Just use lighter valvsprings and the engine will self adjust..... Valvesprings? I you compare this scheme with the one for the procontroller, you will probably see they don't mix to good... But I must admit, I suck at electrics... Title: Re: Rev Limiter for Vertex Magneto Post by: Berger on March 12, 2006, 20:23:29 pm It should realy not be any problem JHU, if You wire like the print fore the Pro-Control says, and conect the brown/orange from the coverter to the TRIG. point at the Pro-Controller. And You don`t need to do two wires all the way to the magneto, only the one from the TRIG. to the primary terminal, and then You make a short loop from the TRIG. to N.O.

My next project is to fit two pro-controllers ;) I sent JHU a mail some time ago were I explained the wiring of both the pro controller and the converter. Works fine on my car. Do you still have it? To the best of my memory it seems very similar to how Berger describes it. Mounted the pro control just next to my left knee on the carpet in front of the drivers side door if you know what I mean...
