The Cal-look Lounge

I don't know about you guys but I'm down for getting some shirts, and maybe some stickers made to show off our Forum. 8)  Zach is pushing for Lounge speedo's :o

 I'm not much of an artist, but I know some of you guys are. Lets pour some ideas in the glass and see if we can stir up something delicious.

Do we really want to tell everybody about our secret fun place???   ;D

Maybe we can rolll with the slogan we have right now "DO YOU LOUNGE?" I'm totaly down with something very nonchalant.

hehe, the thought have crossed my mind several times.
I think It would be cool with the "do you lounge?" logo and the forum's address. Keep it simple.
Perhaps we should do something about this, and sell t-shirts to our members

How about a Lounge Sticker too. I would be proud of sticking that to my KG.
But then JHU is working hard on my stuff too. LOL. ;D

Instead of a catchy phrase (overused?), sihlouette a nose-down car with "THE LOUNGE" underneath.  Probably a flowery 70s type face would work best.

Maybe if we're slow at work tomorrow...

Maybe change it up with the "Do you lounge" motto over the car like the logo on the site and then put the URL in small print just below the motto. Keep it real simple and clean. Oh and instead of the standard circle, how about a triangle shape?

This place is already diluted by the presence of people like me and you want to make it worse by advertising it.  I say keep it a secret and  let folks find out by invitation.  Of course I am an old fart and not an old cal look person as I only arrived in '84.  I have been around for a long time if not in the cal look, but it's nice here and the more folks find this place the more like other places it will become.  This place will lose it's identity if we are not careful.  I'm not sure that I should be here, but I like it here for now...

i had my brother inlaw glass in my doors inside so i have no door panils. all the way smooth like outside and matched and i took out all the rugs and sowndproofing. not that i need my car liteter cuz its got 2oo HP but i like all the noise. why you guys want to make the sventies happen all over agein? i use power seats from pontiac 6ooo for now and upgrade to datsun 3oozx later. of cousre i have full race belts. i need them. i ben known to where a helmit when i drive in town looking to kick ass and take names.

I like the start point JavaBug, thanks for making something visual for us. ;) Here are my thoughts.... I like the beetle but it's a little to dark, needs some more detail, not a lot, just a little. Maybe shrink the beetle and move it to the right a bit and put an empty lawn chair to the left with a 40 oz bottle of beer next to it on the ground. It can almost be symbolic. We are all here because of are sick obsession with the Beetle (and other VW's of coarse). The lawn chair could symbolize the enjoyment of lounging on this site. And just like some of our fellow loungers that were there when The Cal-Look came about, the 40oz is....Original Gangster! 8)

How about just a seventies sofa, a real low slung thing, and maybe with big flowery fabric... a bit rough around the edges... On the back of the shirt, with the slogan " It's a Cal-look thing, you would not understand" in not to big letters under it.

On the front: "Hanging out with senior citizens" across the chest  ;D

I see the shirt in some strange green shade or something...

I strongly agree with everything Donny B says above, except the part about him being here.  If there's one name I associate with having a warmed-up street car and putting miles on it, its you, Don.  Reading about the Berg cruises in the mags back in the 90s, I always rememberd that.

As for the shirt ideas, yes, I'd definetly start with a better image of a car to work with.  That was just the closest that I could find with a quick search.  I like some of the ideas floating around, but let's not overthink it...less is more!

Back to the subject I agree with Zach that phrase is much too overused.  Maybe a sofa with a bunch of Bugs on it in a pattern and just the words the Lounge.  It needs to be subtle.  This place really doesn't need to advertise.  It's a word of mouth thing.

I got to agree with Jim. Old racing photos on the wall, some trophies gathering dust behind the counter. FDK/Hurry is running the jukebox. Thats me standing near the pool table with a stogie in one hand and a glass of single malt scotch in the other. The regulars shooting nine ball and discussing rod ratios and stroker cranks. Fabs and Monkiboy throwing darts while discussing the merits of which 70's steering wheel will look good in the '66. The old guard sitting in the corner on a cracked red leather sofa drinking, bench racing and telling lies about the old days. Jim is tending bar, listening to peoples stories while and giving out advice. Sheep is the bar maid. (Try to beer goggle that one.  ;) )

But I also like JHU`s idè about sofa, but the sugested ones is too mutch "chesterfield" and the other is too new....You launched the idè JHU....draw one the way think it should look

I just put some color on as possible shirt colors.  Probably make white and a color?

I'll start looking to see if I have a better shot of a car to use, start refining things.

As always when it comes to tshirts and hoods - I rather pay a little extra for a quality product! I hate bad quality stuff that looks shit after a short while. This goes for the print as well (and performance parts).

I`m all for a clean, simple message; why not skip the picture and only have; It`s a Cal Look thing - you wouldn`t understand

I agree "simple" is key to a great cal look shirt. In the states "It's a Jeep thing- you wouldn't understand" is a slogan I here or see every damn day, it's totaly overused here. What about "The Cal-Look... It's a way of Life".

I like the "do you lounge?" slogan best. Keep the artwork simple it and should be california look related. Maybe a silohette of a famous looker we all recognize immediately. The title of this website is The cal-look lounge, so we could write "The California look lounge" on the shirt. "Cal-look" is used a lot it would be nice to do something different.

Oh, im glad to know that im not the only one who hangs on to worn out vw shirts, some which I never wear. I recently got rid of about 3 or 4 shirts. It was not easy, but I needed space.

Louis, it does look like a hotel but those always have dirty little dive lounges like the one that was described earlier. It could work. :D

Sweet Guys, All this stuff looks good! ;) . Right now my favorite would be a black and white softball shirt with "The Lounge" Design by Turtle001 on the back, and a small "The Lounge" Logo on the front off to the side, where a pocket would normally be. Lets keep the ideas flowin :)

I like Turtle´s idea the most. And for my eyes the graphic would fit to grey shirt very fine. But i´ll like to see the print at back and some text in front.

I'm very happy with Turtle cam up with for us. And we have all the "rights", and to that is VERY important to me, as this domain is registered to my personal company. So please boys keep this in mind.

Changes will be made, but pleas concentrate on details/layout with this logo in mind. Shirts colors and sizes is also needs discussing.
