Title: 5x130 bolt pattern in 5x205 brake drums
Post by: Mario/DKT on December 07, 2007, 15:54:30 pm
Hi guys,
is it possible to make the 5x130 bolt pattern in a wide 5 brake drum?
Or is it only possible with adapter's?

Thanks.

Hye !

No, sorry, it's not possible, you must to change your Drum brake for the 'recente' version ( 4 x 100 or 5 x 130 ) !
Because the holes down in the milde of the drum and you have not enougth material for make new holes !

Thank's for your understanding !

I will change the rear brake to another from 1968 an up.
At the front i will fix dropped spindels from cb perf. for disc brakes (1968 an up) and use the correct drums an discs with the 5x130 lug pattern.
This mod's are for the lowlight. The bug keep's the 5x205.
Thanks guys.

What year car? If you use the '68 and later drums on a short spline car, you will need to have the snout turned down. You will also need the '68 & later pads & cylinders. (Or use front cylinders for more braking power.) I did this recently on my '67 to fit Porsche pattern drums. I went with AC drums from SoCal Imports. They are thicker in the bolt seating area than redrilled stockers. If you redrill stockers you end up with one of the bolts being in a weaker area of the drum.
