Title: cal looking a coachbuilt Post by: simon uk on December 07, 2007, 16:39:01 pm Hi guys, I was just wondering what your view was on this. Yesterday I was reading a thread on the samba about a late model rometsch that had been found in the states in a bit of a mess and was for sale. I thought about it being dipped at the front and wearing 5 spokes, but Im not sure! I guess they were never really raced so would look a bit wierd?
I know there was the heb over here wearing sprints and I thought it was cool. Any views? Title: Re: cal looking a coachbuilt Post by: louisb on December 07, 2007, 16:42:50 pm As long as it is done in good taste I don't have a problem with modifying rare cars. Really, unless the car is hacked up beyond repair in the process there is nothing that can not be undone.

Title: Re: cal looking a coachbuilt Post by: Zach Gomulka on December 07, 2007, 18:15:20 pm Hell yes. They dont all need to be stock.
Title: Re: cal looking a coachbuilt Post by: lawrence on December 07, 2007, 18:44:51 pm Simon, any pictures of the rometsch? A vintage road race look could be cool. Some 356 wheels, slight lowering job, spartan interior with period gauges, etc Nothing over the top, but a nice car that actually would have been raced back then.

Title: Re: cal looking a coachbuilt Post by: simon uk on December 10, 2007, 17:39:19 pm I think SA sprints are rubbish! The kubel looks pretty cool though. It would be kind of neat to have one on a late model pan (whilst you restore the original!) with nice wheels!
Heres the link to that rometsch thread. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=254903 |
