 Hey Guys,

This is what the Old Motor in Nico's Muppet Racer was...

VW Case
Welded counterweigted Crank, VW 69mm
Mahle 90.5 P/C's with Total Seal 2nd Rings
Engle FK-10 Cam
Straight Cuts Steel/Steel
Scat Lifters
Scat 1.25 Rocker...Measured out to be 1.35
Weber 48IDA's
Skat Trak Manifolds
Joe Hunt Magneto
Santana Pulley
12.5 Flywheel

HEADS done by Steve's VW Shop (Mr. LGK on the Lounge)  ;) ;D ;D
40x35.5 Manley S/S Valves
Dual Berg Springs

9.5 CR!!!!

Motor pushed out 165 HP!!!

Far from Max HP potential, but too low a CR at that Moment... ;)

One of the nastiest 1776cc motors I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, was built by Doug Berg, for as a sprint car class motor. K10 cam, Berg rockers, huge heads, 48IDAs, very large sump. I don't know what the horsepower was. But Doug took me for a test ride, on the street, while the motor was in the S Muffin. We "cruised" around for quite a while. And to say the least... I was amazed. Very high revving, and built to stay at high revs for a long time.

Hey Jim do you still have your old web cam 86c. If you do I would like to buy. I also need to find a good set of 48 idas if you know anybody that has some or maybe the new ida. I still have a World Pac account. I think its time to freshen up the old motor. Im thinking new set of scat rods  different cam  and as much compression as I can get out of that motor.

Derek's short-lived 1776 ran very hard, where your 044's ended up John.
Talk about a budget motor too...
your welded 40 x 35 heads, Engle K8 advanced 4 deg, .020/.020 cwt crank, 12lbflywheel, 9.8:1, 48IDAs with 36mm vents. Thing was an animal until the cheap straight cut Bugpack gear came loose on crank.  :'(

Yeah, that motor was kind of fun until the cam gear nightmare.  :-\

The original BH special 1776 in the car with the Engle 100 and 48 IDA's really put up well with tens of thousands of miles while being abused :)  And it actually ran nicely with that combo  :D

Next motor will be much more fun  ;D ;D

You guys are sissies! :P
94x64 with custom (2 ring?) pistons
A set of Heads Up! welded heads and intakes, narrow stems and possibly LS1 springs.
Titanium valves and rods.
Crank would be a Bryant or Moldex with wing shaped counterweights.
roller cam with net lift over .800 @ the valve.
Vacuum pump
engine would have to be able to spin 10k.
4.86r/p and close gears (and a couple extra in the trailer for when they let go)in a 67 sedan for ss/fs

Okay, everything but the vacuum pump.  Instead, it will have an oil accumulator and Vasco triples.
Should be pretty streetable with the low gears.

I bet that thing idled at 2k, at least.  Heard stories of Comp Eliminator motors with 4" bores and 2.7" strokes that won't take a load on a dyno under 5-6k.

Cima 90.5 with total seal rings

Berg Counteweighted Crank.
Carillo Rods (Stock Length)
14 lb flywheel

48IDAs on Skat-Trak talls
1 3/8" merged 4 Tuned header
Offset cooler
Bosch 010

Hmmmm, I went a bit different way trying to fool the "weber" crowd.
90.5 Cimas
Berg 69mm crank
Polished rods
balanced toe to toe.
heads by DOUG Berg
massive non welded ports
38X42
matched manifolds with..... Tah Dah... Kadrons!
Yes, kadrons.
Doug tore them apart and jetted and gutted them just so.
This motor in my 63' vert blazed!
I however did not build this motor myself I bought it.  I bought it from a local tranny builder that was low on funds named Dave Foltz.  Is he still around?
This was the fastest Kadron motor... OMG it was fun to have the guys lift my decklid and immediately snap to say "I'll race yah yeah!"  Then weber boy would be sad.  granted I was not running against 48's.  But the 1776's with 42's and 44's, I was in.  Now Dyno Don and I had some days discussing whose Kadron motor was faster....  My vert or his Notch.
Worm
