Title: Beams and brakes
Post by: luftkafer on December 08, 2007, 05:12:47 am
So my wife and I are starting on another VW project. We have a 60 Bug that we want to Cal so I need advise on a few things.
I have a set of Ercos (205 pattern) and want to run them on a 2 inch narrowed beam with disc brakes.
Any recommendations on a beam? CB? etc.
What about disc brakes? CSP? or?
Will the discs clear the Ercos?

Hello, how's the wife and junior?
Erich the csp's or cb brakes won't clear the bubbles unless you use a spacer  and massage the caliper
I looked into the "Bad Brakes" . they offer a wildwood caliper I think will clear the bubbles.
I have built a couple front ends using the aftermarket beams.....narrowed and stock...they are lighter due to the thinner material...but I go with a stock beam narrowed or stock width. here is the brake and air bag website

I just put a CB  beam on my '67. I used thier beam, torsion bars, tie rods & sway bar. I was happy with the quality of the product and wouldn't hesitate to use it on another car.
