Title: Detailed BRMs? Post by: cal-look.net on December 09, 2007, 11:02:34 am OK I want to change the wheels on my bug, but realistically don't have the cash to do it!
Would like some opinions on how she looks with detailed BRMs. (http://www.inglisathome.plus.com/dump/Detailed-%20(1%20of%202).jpg) or (http://www.inglisathome.plus.com/dump/Detailed-%20(2%20of%202).jpg) Cheers fellas! Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: speedwell on December 09, 2007, 11:12:47 am don't like the grey one ::)
better in black ;) Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: JS on December 09, 2007, 11:13:33 am Looks GREAT on black BRMīs. Very few cars can pull off silver ones in my opinion.
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: lowfastbus on December 09, 2007, 12:00:17 pm Would go for the black ones...
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: empicolector on December 09, 2007, 12:02:12 pm BLACK
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: DeanoVW on December 09, 2007, 12:20:04 pm Black
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: cal-look.net on December 09, 2007, 12:39:30 pm the more I look at it, the black looks cool!
;D Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: cal-look.net on December 09, 2007, 12:44:21 pm grey LOL ;)
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: nicolas on December 09, 2007, 12:50:45 pm i like the grey ones better... or try to find a darker hue of your body colour and paint them like that. the black looks good and is a classic, but your car isn't red, black, white, so there are different options. it is true not a lot of cars look good with the raw ones, but yours does in my opinion.
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: wolfswest on December 09, 2007, 13:15:50 pm I would choose the black ones!
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: Martin Greaves on December 09, 2007, 13:25:06 pm Do the grey one then lower your car at the back put a roof rack with a coke cooler on it.
Oh and a load more old junk on it. It will look great or just do them black save lots of money and time. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: IP359 on December 09, 2007, 15:20:48 pm Gold....
Oops sorry .... Black ones.... ;D Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: JeePee/DVK on December 09, 2007, 16:08:20 pm Black is Beautiful. :P
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: Bewitched666 on December 09, 2007, 16:25:16 pm I would run the grey ones as everybody is already running blacks and its not that original anymore, haha ;D
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: lawrence on December 09, 2007, 18:20:27 pm The black ones look really good. Are you suprised :D I do not really like the silver, but I think a gunmetal grey or maybe a brown would work. Do what you like, experiment with photoshop, and dare to be different. New wheels are on my wishlist, but I do not have the money either, so I am saving. Good luck.
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: Shubee2 (DSK) on December 09, 2007, 18:35:44 pm The Black Ones Look the Best But If I was going with another Color on your car I would do them a Charcoal Grey
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: bathing ape on December 09, 2007, 19:14:57 pm the black ones
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: cal-look.net on December 09, 2007, 19:46:24 pm Great feedback guys, the black contrasts well with the rest of the car, ties in the rubbers and interior etc.
To be honest not trying to be different, just a cheap change to the look of my bug for next year. Black is in the lead so far, but will def play with photoshop! brown . . . hmmmm Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: Tobi/DFL on December 09, 2007, 20:00:46 pm How about a really dark green?!
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: nicolas on December 09, 2007, 21:28:09 pm what colour is your car?
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: speedwell on December 09, 2007, 21:29:40 pm what colour is your car? she's look like a mango green ::)Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: Luftkraft on December 09, 2007, 21:41:28 pm once you go black you never go back. :) but if you wanna stick with the grey, I'd opt for a darker hue, something like gunmetal grey.
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: Jon on December 09, 2007, 22:09:12 pm I would stip all the clearcoat of them and sand away all the marks left from machining. Then polish the "spokes" and paint them black with texture in between.
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: Russell on December 09, 2007, 23:27:00 pm darker shade of body colour..... IMHO
however, try and sell them and get a set of flat 4 ones first ! Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: cal-look.net on December 10, 2007, 08:42:41 am colour is Safari Beige, doesn't photograph well, looks green in some lights and beige in others!
a second hand set of Flat 4s may well be an option, when I built the car they cost a fortune! I have had these wheels since 1999. Cheers! Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: BeetleBug on December 10, 2007, 09:06:20 am I would stip all the clearcoat of them and sand away all the marks left from machining. Then polish the "spokes" and paint them black with texture in between. Second that! One more thing, and this is just my 2 cents, I would consider getting the back wheels further out to get a "harder" look. Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: cal-look.net on December 10, 2007, 10:37:35 am the wheels are already raw - no clear, and the spokes are polished, so all I need to do is clean em up and paint them!
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: nicolas on December 10, 2007, 11:26:11 am darker shade of body colour..... IMHO however, try and sell them and get a set of flat 4 ones first ! see, something like a mokka colour or something that goes good with the beige! black is overrated! Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: Sarge on December 10, 2007, 17:05:08 pm I've really been gettin' the "looks" since I went rainbow... :o ::) 8)! Seriously, striping and polishing your Flat Fours, semi gloss black paint, and 14mm studs with cap nuts still looks best to me...it's "traditional." My $.02...
Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: louisb on December 10, 2007, 17:09:35 pm Sorta on the same theme, I have been thinking of stripping my burners and painting the centers a charcoal grey instead of black. Still debating that one though.

Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: BeetleBug on December 11, 2007, 08:41:39 am I'd go with the black. :) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/SanchoPancho/General/BRM.jpg) Period correct and Magnesium all the way !!!!!!!! No repro's ! ;D The ultimate wheel for sure but for me it`s not the grey colour or the patina that does it - it is the fat tire! Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: ESH on December 11, 2007, 10:23:53 am ...it is the fat tire... I know what you mean, funnily enough I just scored a pair of those Firestones, unfortunately though they're not mounted on BRMs. Anyway detailed black. Has that already been said? :) Title: Re: Detailed BRMs? Post by: cal-look.net on December 11, 2007, 11:39:00 am Black detailed it is!
