Aside from the car stuff we're all into, what do you enjoy reading?  My wife bought me Eric Clapton's new autobiography the other day and I have had a hard time putting it down as it's full of stuff from the '60's and '70's.  Hard to believe the guy can remember anything with all that he "did." 

Beside the car stuff, i don't read enough.

Lately i have been reading the Southern California & Las Vegas TourBook by AAA.  ;D

is there anything to read besides car stuff?

B.S. Levy's "The Last Open Road" series. Fantasic stuff for the real car guy.

The last book I read was Into the Wild by John Krakauer. Great read that should awaken that vagabond spirit that is hidden in all of us. Then I heard the movie was coming out. Saw that, Awesome movie!! Good soundtrack too.

Just finished "in cold blood" from Truman Capote. Not a funny book, but a great one...

I have a copy of Porsche 917: The Ultimate Weapon , which is now out of print. It's a good book, technically and great photos. What makes my copy special to me is that I had it signed by many notable Porsche "guys"....Hanns Hermann, Derek Bell, Peter Falk, Jochen Mass, Wolfi Porsche, and Jurgen Barth.

Good book, nice collection of signatures. If you haven't got it already you should keep an eye open for The Fabulous 917 (Peter Hinsdale). Says it's $5.95 on the back so second hand I should imagine you'd be able to pick it up for no more than a buck or so...

For the time I read these books. many pleasures. I can only recommend...

I've been trying to track down those too Lids, picked up three or four of them in the large trade paperback format. It's the OCD in me that makes me want to collect the set before I start reading them! :D

I've just read the Stieg Larsson books, which were superb, and now I'm reading The Redbreast by Jo Nesbo. I recently read Day Of The Jack Russell by Colin Bateman, a Northern Irish black comedy crime book, he's the same guy who wrote Murphys Law, the James Nesbitt TV show.

My favourite author is Robert Rankin, I've read pretty much everything he's done. It's kind of sci-fi, but not! Most of it is absolutely ridiculous!

I had every SK book except two copies from the gunslinger series, #3 and#4.  My OCD has been replacing my paperback copies with UK 1st Editions and that's anything prior to 1989!  I still have to hunt down a large paperback copy of Wizard and Glass to complete the series, but I thought I would start them now.

UK 1st Edition of Carrie went on ebay for £1500, the US editions  = $100!!!!!

I'll read anything I can get my hands on... trying to limit my VW reading to simply Hot VWs when it shows up in the mail, because once I start reading that, I'm distracted from anything and everything else.  Heh.

Just finished a Don Robertson (?? I think that's right) novel called The Greatest Thing that Almost Happened, read a Philip Roth novel before that (Indignation), getting ready to read another Roth book (forgot the title) as well as one of my new favorites, Garrison Keillor.  Need to get off my duff and get back into the writing realm, too, rather than obsessing over my POS '70...lol. 
All time favorite author is Jean Shepherd.  He wrote/narrated "A Christmas Story," about the Red Ryder BB gun that Ralphie wants for Christmas.
I've made piece with the fact it will never be a "nice" car, but I'm getting ready to go through round 2 on the 2017 engine build, thanks to my buddy, John Bates.  If it weren't for him, I would be done with the big engine build and throwing a stocker back in.

Boom Boom -- I believe that there are 3 books out there of Dick's short stories -- all are great and still very prophetic

Ken Follett -- Fall of Giants -- very good first of a series of three, second book scheduled for release this year

Was at a yard sale and was just drawn to this -- a complete 9 book set of The World Book .. ...  from 1928 .. .. very interesting to see the world from the eyes of someone in 1928 like -- the country of Abyssinia -- was renamed Ethiopia in 1923 -- was only 1 of 2 countries in Africa at that time not owned or controled by European Powers -- I've dubbed this the forgotten knowledge and I'm enjoying relearning it.

"Hawk" was the lead pilot in developing the F-14 and later CO and XO of TOPGUN at Fighter town USA Miramar San Diego.
Still a great guy, long ago I worked with Hawk in the USS Ranger CATCC.  8)

I'm reading "A song of ice and fire" which is the fifth book in the "Game of thrones" series.

Just finished "Locked On" by Tom Clancy and am currently reading "Nov. 22, 1963" by Stephen King.  I relish my evenings these days reading on my front porch and drinking a cold Coke versus cursing creative new strands of profanity in my buddy's shop on the car/engine project... the latter came to a standstill recently with a pinched thrust bearing and squashed dowel pin.

De Havilland Goblin 3 jet engine manual, it's a real page turner!

Good books, aren't they! I've just finished "a dance with dragons" book 1, which I think is the sixth in the series.

I'm reading "American tabloid" by James Ellroy at the moment, a fictionalized version of the mafia, FBI and CIA interaction around the time of JFK's campaign and election. It's very good, and I've got the next two in the trilogy to read too!

Just finished the job book t long last, what a very clever guy, we have a lot in coman with our passion or VW's  as he did with technology, a recommended read.

Coming up to Christmas we're bound to get books for presents. I've finished the Game of Thrones series, as far as they're written anyway. Ive not had much time for reading recently, but I did manage No Angel, the Jay Dobins story of how an ATF agent infiltrated the Hells Angels and Stephen King's From a Buick Eight. Also read Anno Dracula by Kim Newman, a bit of a mash-up of Dracula and Jack the Ripper which was good fun!

If you like to read -- I have found the most wonderful web site -- -- www.bookbub.com -- it is for ebooks, I've installed kindle for droid on my phone and pad -- you register on the site and select what type of books you're interested in and EVERYDAY you get a email with 3-5 books on it that are offered to you from anywhere from FREE to $3 -- since I'm a book whore anything that is free I grab and occasionally if something for 1 or 2 bucks interests me I'll buy that -- Usually these books are part of series of  books and they are trying to get you hooked so that you'll buy the whole series,,, that has a happened a couple of times to me -- I have one problem is that I'm a speed reader and even when I lower my speed down to really enjoy a book I'm still in the 3-5 pages a minute rate, which means a normal good sized book is finished easily in a day -- -- But with this site I can get all kind of free trash to occupy my mind with LOL -- Yeah I know should be spending more time in the garage, but that usually cost to much money LOL

I am a big war book reader , mainly WW2 .

Favourite reads are , First Light by Goeff Wellum , Nine Lives by Al Deere , Fighter Boys and Bomber Boys by Patrick Bishop . The Mighty Eighth , can't remember the author .

One of the most amazing and brutal books I've read is The Man who Broke into Auschwitz by Denis Avey , an incredibly brave man .

A few years back I read Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand , about Louie Zamperini which has just been made into a film by Angelina Jolie , I strongly recommend anyone to read the book before seeing the film .

   Lately I realised  how well my turbo system worked that Dave Kawell built and wanted to figure out WHY . I talked to Dave and he suggested I read Corky Bells " Maximum Boost "  so I have been reading it.  If and when I read for pure pleasure I read SCI fiction , really enjoyed everything by Robert Heinlein.

I read First Light a few years ago, amazing book and even more because its true.

Wellum is an excellent writer . We think of those pilots as being grown men , but they were barely out of school . At the beginning of the book you can tell he's just a boy , but he ages and matures by ten years in one year .

You should read Nine Lives , the amount of scrapes Al Deere got into and survived is crazy .

Quoting an ancient post on an ancient thread about an ancient memory... I should be an historian some day... My parents used to borrow this on tape from the library for our trips to Michigan from Colorado. Nothing, to this day, gets me as nostalgic as David Sedaris' books on tape or anything pre-'04 from the Barenaked Ladies.
