The Cal-look Lounge

Hi guys,
I just ordered the tickets for my wife and myself to go to London for the Volksworld show. I enjoyed my weekend very much last year and I'm looking forward to checking in again in 2008.
Who else on The Lounge is going?
Would be great to yet again hook up in the bar at a certain time on saturday. I get the feeling we will need more then one long table this time :-)

Get a flight dude its pretty cheap  :) if you need somewhere to crash I've got space for one more  :)

The DFL is going as usual - Sven, Otto, Christoph an I will be there. Maybe Dokke too. Nicolas, we may have a spot for you in the car. Gas is for free, you would just have to pay for tunnel and hotel. If you are interested, pm me.

hey lee thanks, but i have to take 4 rims with me so flying is not an option at this point. but maybe i will keep the sleeping place in mind. but i will see what the DFL guys are up to. we'll see more clearly next week.

i am about to pack up all the gear and get it in the car. the train across the channel is at 7:20 so i have to get up early at 3:30 or something, then get no sleep till sunday or something like that... might have to stash up some redbull or high cafiene stuff as well. can't wait to get there though.

took us 20 minutes to find the lounge meet cos of the bar being turned into a kids playground. too bad it was so short for us.
but it was quite interesting to see it set up as a group therapy :D

anyway, was it sven from DFL who took the group photo? i hope we can find it somewhere in fullsize, that would be cool ;D

I had less time to play with this year with only a day at the show rather than three and as usual didn't get the chance to catch up with everyone properly but it was good to see people again. See you trackside in the UK and on the Continent later in the season; yet another one stuck with this VW thing so roll on Summer. Should be a good one.

Has the Volksworld show outgrown Sandown?

as you know, i agree with you lids, its always a great show and its not a criticism, its a victim of its own success, but i do reckon that it would be more 'user friendly` if there was more space.......not an easy thing to do though i would suspect....

keep it at sandown!!!

i wouldnlt like sitting in traffic and then ages finding a parking space in central london  :D

(After reading that thread in Volkszone..) I am not sure if it was much more crowded than other indoors shows that I've been to. As nice it is to get really close to the cars and study the details, I don't really understand why do people have to touch the cars.. I watched some old guy was feeling "Too Old's" Oval's driver side front fender and the 'Verts like James' black one or the yellow metalflake one got fondled more than the owners probably like.

Below is a shot I took year before, I had no idea who the couple was, maybe the owners of the NB in best case, but funny as f**k..

Its funny you mention that - we were talking about that subject on sunday whilst standing next to Robs Bronze Manx and watching people rub their grubby little fingers all over it  ::) I lost count of how many people who have rubbed their hands ALL OVER my manx  ::) its almost as though poeple feel like they HAVE to touch the Flake - oh well I guess its a kinda compliment :-\ ;) :)

Anyway BACK TO THE TOPIC I know Sandown is kinda small BUT as far as I am concerned Sandown Park IS The Volksworld Show - it holds alot of memories for me  :)

This is just my 2 cents BUT I think it would help ALOT if people left the Wife, Kids, Pushchairs, Dogs etc AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!! Can someone PLEASE tell me the point of an extremly bored housewife pushing a 6month old baby around a room full of smelly old car parts ???  ;) :)

I had a great time at the show this year. Bought almost nothing, but enjoyed chatting and drinking beer with the people I met.

BTW, I enjoyed the show and I think Sandown is the right place. It was the eleventh year for me and as Lee said, there are many memories connected to Sandown. I just love the show, love meeting people and feeling the atmosphere.
