I think the finish 49-rag wants is silver-vein or hammered silver finish. It is a nice look. Jim you kill me Now go and get me a can , and stick it in the post there's a good chap ;) Title: Re: Zolotite (spelling) Paint Post by: Fastbrit on January 03, 2008, 00:36:03 am Zolotone is the paint used in the past by some people to do the engine bay or trunk area. You can buy a similar paint in aerosol form in Homebase. However, I think the hammer-effect finish you're talking about is a stove enameling process.
Title: Re: Zolotite (spelling) Paint Post by: Black Sheep on January 03, 2008, 00:40:39 am Cheers Keith , will pop down to Homebase for a can and a bit of experimenting , got a stove enameling contact will see where that leads me
Title: Re: Zolotite (spelling) Paint Post by: Jim Ratto on January 03, 2008, 01:06:50 am ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Jim you kill me Now go and get me a can , and stick it in the post there's a good chap ;) I'd go for the Olde English Charm look and do it up in a walnut burl finish. You know like an old Bentley's dashboard. Now that's hot. Title: Re: Zolotite (spelling) Paint Post by: Donny B. on January 03, 2008, 01:36:25 am I think Bill's tinware is powdercoated in a hammertone not Zolotone. Zolotone was used in some domestic (US) cars in the trunk area. It hides many flaws and that's why some people use it. I sprayed my glove box with it. I believe it is water based and needs to be sealed with a clear coat for durability.
Title: Re: Zolotite (spelling) Paint Post by: Rocket Ron on January 03, 2008, 01:44:07 am try the stone effect paint you can get a B & Q the paint over the top in the colour you require , thats how I did my tinware
Title: Re: Zolotite (spelling) Paint Post by: Shubee2 (DSK) on January 03, 2008, 02:49:42 am Most of the Guys Nowdays use powdercoated tinware in a hammertone Finish,Hammertone is also made in a spray can Form as a paint which you can get at most home improvement centers (Lowes,Home Depot) in paint form it is limited to about six different colors. If it is done as a Powdercoat there are alot more color choices. Zolotone was used in some domestic (US) cars in the trunk area. It hides many flaws and that's why some people use it.

This thread has got me thinking , has anyone ever seen an old MGB dash board , finished in a black crackle effect , might have to look into what the powder coaters can do ?
