Title: Berg Traction Bar
Post by: louisb on February 04, 2008, 19:03:18 pm
Okay, while I was under the car last night putting in the little sump I noticed my Berg traction bar had slipped forward under the engine case. I followed the directions and had it pretty tight. Any suggestions for keeping it from sliding forward? I am thinking a little bracket to bolt to the case. Though that would probably defeat the rubber vibration dampener.

Louis, make sure you have the proper preload on the bar, then it shouldn't slip.

I had that same problem with my traction bar. The asymetrical nub on the bottom of the case is what causes the problem. I cut the nub off of the case and made a small bracket out of flat stock and square tube. Simple and effective.

I made a bracket for mine along time ago and bottomed out the bar on a speed bump and broke my case. I'd rather have it able to slip off in that kinda situation.

Good point.

I moved it back and tightened up the preload. I plan to take it on a long drive tomorrow to test out the steering. I will see if it stays in place this time.

A deep sump will keep it from going anywhere.

Worked for me as well.
I just welded a tab on the bar so i can "loosely" secure it with a nyloc nut to the case.
