Title: WeldMating Cranks... Post by: Frank LUX on February 12, 2008, 12:49:27 pm Wedgemating is well known, but what about Weldmating Cranks???
Any Infos welcome... ;) Frank Title: Re: WeldMating Cranks... Post by: Udo on February 12, 2008, 12:53:58 pm May be someone wrote wedgemating wrong ? ::)

Post by: Greg G on February 12, 2008, 16:26:40 pm Weldmating crank/flywheels is when leave the end of the crank flyhweel fit straight, weld up the flywheel crank fit area and machine it so it has ~.0025-0035 press fit on the crank. I usually heat the flywheel a little and draw it on with the gland nut. I normally set the end play with another flywheel that has the same mounting area depth so I don't have to install and remove the flywheel over and over again. The flywheel can be used on different cranks that that have a similar flywheel fit dimesion.

its a CB 78mm crank. I can measure it with calipers but don't trust the dimension given. Thanks Greg for the information given on the cal forum. Cheers Peter Title: Re: WeldMating Cranks... Post by: Greg G on February 13, 2008, 16:22:32 pm Most cranks measure ~2.105 on the flywheel fit. I have one that was reground that measures 2.104. Can you measure some thing else with the calipers that you could compare with a mic so you could get the feel of what is right, then measure the crank a couple times and see what size you are most consistant getting?
