Anyone ever built or know of someone who has built a rotisserie for a VW? Pics, plans whatever? Just something I have been thinking about for when I start the bodywork on the '67. I was thinking you could make something from two cheap V8 style engine stands. Fab up some mounts that would connect to the front and rear body mounts.

With a little thought, you should be able to make one that can do both. Probably make it so you can disassemble it and store it out of the way.

Jim Gordon's Restorations in Paramount , Ca had one, in fact those pictures look just like his shop. That might be his.

I would think positioning the posts to the outside of the car would be a better idea... that way you could rotate the body 360 degrees without the posts getting in the way...

It probably would be, but it would also be  more complicated and costly. Plus, unless your eight feet tall, being able to turn the car up side down doesn't seem to have any advantages.

I built mine to spin the body 360° but I rarely tilt it more than 90 -100° to weld on it, so if you prefer it to be low it can be done lower than mine. When I don't use it I unbolt the cross member so it takes up very little space. For the time being its holding a bay window  :o

I like the way you've moved the pivot point above the mounting point. Seems like it would be easier to control the rotation that way.

You are right. I wanted to get close to the center of gravity of the body. In combination with allowing enough room to rotate it 360° this is what I came up with. I actually moved the pivot point to high, so its bottom heavy, but I guess that is better than top heavy. 

I have two type's , One that pivet's like engine stand's and the other one I have two large hoop's rolled 6-7 foot dia. I bolt them on each end of what I'm working on. and when I'm done, I can lean up against wall or on the roof of my office. just another Idea.
