We were talking about Dick Dale and Surf Music in the Tunes thread. I thought it would be fun to share some recommendations. Try to include website links were available.

NOTE: First person to suggest The Beach Boys will be thrashed severely!

The Stingrays.. Out of San Clemente, CA these guys were barely old enough to shave when their first album came out in 2000. I haven't heard  anything from them recently though.  http://www.myspace.com/thestingrayssurfband (http://www.myspace.com/thestingrayssurfband)

The Blue Hawaiians... surf and exotica music. Legend has it that Quentin Taratino was a regular at LAs Lava Lounge where The Blue Hawaiians were the house band, inspiring him to include Miserlou in his film "Pulp Fiction." One of my favorites were The Lively Ones  http://www.thelivelyones.com/  I had all their albums and a cheesy portable record player to spin them on in my bedroom.  I can still hear my dad..."Turn it DOWN!!!"  ::) ;D

Rick, thanks for the recommendations. I will check those bands out. I started listening to Southern Culture on the Skids recently and I like them. They are probably considered more rockabilly than surf music, but are good nonetheless.

Heres my local Favorites. The Neptunes. Thom, the guitar player with the gray hair is a friend and Porsche and VW guy.
