Title: Sweet Wheels & Lost Swedish Ghia
Post by: SplitMan on September 26, 2006, 10:53:13 am
I followed this auction on EBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=120031278035&ih=002&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

...and then dug out an old photo of a white Ghia track racecar that I looked at in a Swedish barn many years ago. The Ghia has the very same wheels. Makes me think - were these wheels sold new in Sweden at one time and do any of you Swedes know of any survivors....or the white Ghia?

I have seen a white Ghia with wheels looking like those outside Åre. They were 14" and he claimed they were from an Opel.
Maybe the same car?

Must be the same car. I saw it in a barn just outside Ostersund. The old man said it was sold, or given, to a guy in Stockholm. Relative? Where is it now? And the wheels were 14s, but the are surely not Opel.

Are you sure those wheels are VW Bolt Pattern?

Ford had a wide 5 lug pattern in the late 30s and that same pattern was used on a lot of dirt cars.

I think I can find the owner, I have his mail address and I think he has photos of it.
