Title: 010 condensor
Post by: davvide on March 16, 2008, 22:36:33 pm
Hy guys,
my 010's condensor died two days ago.
So, today I replaced it with another which came from an 1600 distributor but it doesn't run good. The car runs at 3 cylinder and sometimes at 2.
Well, the question is: which is the correct code for the condensor? My friend has this on his... 1237330045134 but other friend has another code.
On my condensor there isn't any code, only "made in germany" on the top.
If anybody has it for sale, I'm very interested!!!!
Thank you

Hello

I don't think really that makes that big difference, they don't have between them some significant constructural difference except their capacity and the external fixing tabs and cables. In most cases those for automotive use are something between 20-25μF capacity, those for VW (all inclusive beetle. super, 411,412,transporter, kubel etc) are rated to 21μF, so if you choose one with this capacity and to suit you on the cables and fixing tab, you;re done, no matter from what other car comes. What makes them bad is heat, as they are heated all time their capacity drops and this is what causes the points to "burn" more often, so probably you have another problem if you have changed with a new one and your problem insists, hope that helps a little

Friendly

Dimitrios

Hi Dimitiros,

thank you for your reply. It is very interesting  :)
The engine with the old condensor runs very well and yesterday I have changed only the condensor with a new ones, after it the car doesen't run.
I changed the old ones becouse the cable on the bottom is broken, not for any others causes   ??? ???

CSP as well if you are in Europe. check the gap again. and make sure the screw is not too close to the body or touching it.
