The Cal-look Lounge

Hey Guys - I have mentioned before that I have 3 weeks off this summer (over the EBI2 weekend) and I want to go cruzing around some COOOOOOOOOL roads and routes around europe - Any ideas guys  ??? ??? ???

I really want to visit the D902 in sourthern France - for those who don't know this road is from the opening scenes of The Italian Job with some AWSOME footage of a Murria  ;D ;D ;D

This is just over 600km so could be done over a couple of days - there are plenty of cheap hotels on route - it might get a bit cold in manx though  ;) :)

So let me know what else is out there guys - I want to get some memorable footage and pics  :)

What about the Route Napoleon. It's the most famous one I think...

I drove that one 2-3 years ago. It's freaking awesome. Lots of opportunities to hear your engine bellowing through the mountains  ;D

The Stelvio Pass is a must - it makes for incredible driving and the scenery is breathtaking.

I think I saw a Top Gear episode where they drove supercars on that pass not so long ago!

The last car I would want to drive up there would be a cal looker or a buggy if I'm honest, I'm sure it would be great fun and interesting in places though!!

The last few times I've been over there I've been lucky enough to be in a selection of cars, TVR, a Radical SR2!! - now that was fun.... and having just bought a TT, will give that a go in the summer.

The A8 in the South of France (although an Autoroute) past Cannes - Nice - Monaco is worth a crack as well, especially through all the tunnels. The views from there are superb and there is a great classic car museum outside of Cannes with some superb exotica ranging from Group B rally cars and a Ferrari F1 exhibit to early Lamborghini and Porsches.

and then via Menton drive to Ventimigglia (Italy near Menton) and then drive that coastal side road into Italy to Savona

I also like Mandelieu la Napoule to St.Tropez through the hills as well; sweeping corners and amazing views. Wouldn't want to get out of shape up there though with some of the drops down the cliffs!

A 996 GT3 RS would be my choice for those roads, I think the ceramic brakes would be required to avoid brake fade and certain crashage  ;D
