Even though I have given nearly all my old photos to Keith Seume, I did find a few more in my box of old pictures. These are not the best, but perhaps interesting. The first one was taken at one of the Bug-Ins, around 1973? Hell, even the DDS Dodge van is a nice ride! The second photo is my 1700 on Fleming & Aronson's dyno. Note the (blue) anodized custom Empi linkage cross bar.... Had trouble getting the Total Seal rings to break in. The next two pixs are working on Jim Holmes' car in my old shop, and that's DKP's Gary Ritter (I think!).

Thanks for sharing, Deano!!  Candid shots are always my favorites. The 63 on jackstands with the doors flung open. Traditional motor in the foreground. Mr. Ritter had probably just finished torquing the pressure plate bolts or something like that. Another weekend for some hi-po vw lovers. Too cool.

Here's a few more.... The first one is Jim Holmes (note the early F&A T-shirt) installing an aluminum panel on the firewall. The second one is Dave Patrick's gasser running at a NHRA Points meet at OCIR. The final one is my brother's ragtop, complete with Phil's dual boom-tube header, Chevy rear chromies on wide tires, and chrome vent cover.... Ran a hopped up 40hp with a Porsche clutch, 031 distributor and jetted 30 pict-1....taken in 1968.

very cool. i like this history that is popping up like this. and for Keith, nice! very cool gift. now i completely understand why you need to make some room and toss out those old trophies...  ;)

too bad, i would like to trade any throphy for a collection like his... i have never seen it, but it must be very very impressive (and that is probally an understatement)

i allways like  pics from the past.  Brings back memory. Its allways funny  to see the fashionstyle  from the days. The eyeglasses  are mucho Porno hmmm !!!!

Cool photos, Dean!  Gary Reader has been by the dealership a few times over the last year...last I saw him, he was working for a surf shop in Dana Point.  Some things never change!  That Phil's Header "unit" sure brings back some old memories  8) 8) 8)

Yup, notice the saddle shoes, wide leather belt. Hang Ten shirts were very popular back then, as were those wide leather wrist watch bands. Remember Earth shoes? I can't recall if bell bottoms were in or out back then, hard to keep track (it would be hell going back in time, what should I wear?).

By the way, those pictures of Jim Holmes' car were taken after the Feb '75 issue came out. This was during an engine case switch, as the old one cracked in the back and began leaking... While Jim rebuilt his 1700cc, we stuck my brother's 40hp/1500cc engine back in his car so he could get around. Once the new engine was done and installed (these photos), that stock 1500cc went into my brother's yellow sedan.

Yes, this was the second generation engine for Jim, as it now had a set of Aronson-built stale-air heater boxes and a S&S sedan system. Prior to this setup, Jim used a Fortuned merged system - no heaters.... IDAs on a 1700? You bet!

I think there's still a sign on Jamboree Ave. advertising KEZY traffic reports.

Yes, even the real ones leaked, and loosened up. They were for show only, and vented stockers went back on rather quickly...

It's on the beach bound side between Michaelson and McArthur. I know I've seen it within the past year.

The call letters "KEZY" are still in use, it just now a Spanish-based station in San Bernardino... no more classic rock-n-roll.

Remember these old AM stations; KRLA (110), KHJ (93) and KFWB (98)?

Did he build the heater setup from the ground up, or did he modify some stock heater boxes?? I have been thinking of doing something like this on my motor..
