Also, with a little careful grinding, you can remove all of those litle tabs n the front of it.

Title: Re: Fan shroud Post by: Type1/DVK on March 25, 2008, 15:42:00 pm I did this yesterday.. :)
With heater tabs. (http://www.cal-look.nl/gallery/albums/userpics/10006/IMG_1214.jpg) And without! cut and grind, welded it and some bondo, and a slap of paint :) (http://www.cal-look.nl/gallery/albums/userpics/10006/23032008.jpg) We'll see if it works, i think it is better than a chrome 36hp aftermarket one ;) Title: Re: Fan shroud Post by: airstuff on March 25, 2008, 16:41:19 pm it looks nice, sure :D
What engine do you have over there? :) Title: Re: Fan shroud Post by: Sam K on March 26, 2008, 03:08:07 am I helped a friend put one of those "low profile" shrouds on a type 3 not too long ago and we were prettty pleased with it. Also, with a little careful grinding, you can remove all of those litle tabs n the front of it. are they worth the money? I thought so. It wasn't much more than the aftermarket 36 horsepower doghouse type shrouds, plus it's a genuine VW part so the fit and overall quality of it was nice. Title: Re: Fan shroud Post by: NoBars on March 27, 2008, 10:03:48 am Looks just like a Thing (Trekker?) shroud, nice work.
I have heard the vanes in the Thing shroud are different, someone should outline the changes so they can be applied to regular doghouse shrouds with the vents blocked off... But I'll take a look again tonight to make sure.
