Title: how to "restore" a berg shifter?
Post by: wolfswest on April 01, 2008, 09:30:38 am
Hi guys,

Unfortunatly my black paint of my t handle is beginning to peel of…  I now have a Ene Berg shifter  ::)…  Anyone else who had this problem?  I want to “restore/repaint” the handle but how do I do it?  Painting is easy but what about the inscription?  Or maybe polish it…  Pictures of modified berg shifters are more then welcome so I can make up my mind.

Second question, how do I remove the handle?

Thx

Dem

Polished looks good, or just have it powder coated. Any pics of the handle??

I’ll have the newer version of shifter.  The one that says gene berg in big capitol letters and the letters are not “on” the shifter but a little deeper, carfed….  You guys understand me…  this is more difficult to peel the paint out of the letters…

I know the sort - I think they're powedercoated or painted before the name is machined into the top. You could get some of that liquid mask from a model shop and paint it into the writing, then repaint the handle. When you're done, peel out the liquid mask.

Good idea Neil!  I will give it a shot!   How do I remove the T handle?  Anyone?

Should be a couple of Allen screws holding it onto the shaft.
