Post by: outlaw on April 11, 2008, 11:47:46 am
Long story but I managed to get this from the UK, restored and in perfect working order.
Lots of stories about these carbs, some good some bad so it wonīt be put into use.

Nice bit of decoration though eh !!!

They were sold in the 60s so pretty much for 6v 1200s.
Very simple carb, said to be a good boost in power, up hill power and no flat spots...........but they would say that wouldnīt they.

The Fish carb was designed for V8s and hot rods back in the day.
Reese Fish and Minnow Fish were made for VWs and other European cars in the 60s.

looks pretty cool. I had a minnow fish, must be about 10 years ago now, and I could never get it to run properly, which resulted in a massive overfueling and breakdown on a dual carriage way! After that I got rid of it cheap and put it down to experience - there isnt much in the way of adjustment on a minnow, so if it works, ok, if it doesnt, well, I guess you breakdown.

Si.

This is pretty much what Iīve heard too, the Minnow was slightly different though. It seems these were used on a lot on rally bugs and Minins back in the day, some rave on them some donīt.
Its just to clean and nice to stick it on a dirty old engine and try it so I think it can just on a shelf for now  :)
