Title: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: Type1/DVK on April 14, 2008, 20:53:38 pm Diederick presented me his IDA's for ultrasonic cleaning, prior to this i had a inspection at the main shaft and butterfly valves.
This here below isn't.. good at all.., To me the valves should close álmost to the body, only a few mm of gap should be there for creating a progression vacuum. This is the situ in ONE IDA: (bent main shaft) (http://www.cal-look.nl/gallery/albums/userpics/10006/bentshaft.jpg) Not so good to me.. The pivot arm is fully in back position, the upper area is touching the body, below it isn't! and to make it worse, different gaps.. grr.. (http://www.cal-look.nl/gallery/albums/userpics/10006/idagap.jpg) Are IDA butterfly valves always angled? (http://www.cal-look.nl/gallery/albums/userpics/10006/idathrottleplate.jpg) And a bent main shaft... also... (http://www.cal-look.nl/gallery/albums/userpics/10006/idabenthole.jpg) What do the carb-'pro's' say? driveable? ??? :o Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: Jim Ratto on April 14, 2008, 21:32:10 pm somebody probably tried tightening shaft nuts (on nut left from mixture screw) without idle speed stop and screw in place, in turn using the butterflies as the "stops" bad bad bad.... they're soft brass. Not only are these bent but the shafts are most likely twisted too.... I tell guys, CHECK THE BUTTERFLIES against the throats with feeler gauge!!!!!
Yikes, I have never been brave enough to mess with butterflies and those screws that hold them to shafts. :o Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: Jim Ratto on April 14, 2008, 21:43:04 pm He'll need these part #'s
1005.426 (throttle shaft) x 2 (if both are tweaked) 64005.091 (butterfly) x 4 (if all are bent) 64570.009 (butterfly screws) x 8 (never re-use) 41570.001 (bearing dust boot) x 4 (need to be replaced when servicing shafts and bearings) 55520.004 (shaft lock washers) x 4 (never re-use) 41705.021 (carb cover gaskets) x 2 ( in case his rip or are shrunk) Try here for parts: http://www.piercemanifolds.com/products.htm Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: Type1/DVK on April 14, 2008, 22:10:34 pm Jep, those are the parts, i had a call with died this evening.. he was at the pub ;) drinking away the problems ;) ;D (lolz)
I had first hand experience with bent throttleshafts and broken screws etc. it's a hell of a job if you want to do it correctly. Even the weber book doesn't recommend it! Dellorto.co.uk also has the parts i think.. Matt helped me with my IDF's. Good luck Died! let me know what you want me to do.. Send them to Jaycee make 51's out of them or check with Jack at Jaycee he has a ton of takeoff parts for IDA'sThis here below isn't.. good at all.., To me the valves should close álmost to the body, only a few mm of gap should be there for creating a progression vacuum. I guess he could sell them after having them poked for 51mm...
Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: The Ideaman on April 15, 2008, 01:53:44 am Steve Hollingsworth has bushed a few of mine with a brass bushing. No need to open them to 51.5mm. Then replace the throttle shafts and butterflies.

Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: The Ideaman on April 15, 2008, 04:51:16 am Replace bearings on outers and bush the center two. Seems over time, they wear and leak vacuum. Mine were so bad that at full throttle the pump shooters would squirt fuel down the throats of the carbs. Bushings and new shafts fixed it.

Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: Diederick/DVK on April 16, 2008, 15:10:37 pm well, i dunno why it would be better to sell "them"...
as far as i'm concerned i'll decide when i get a price quote for the parts needed... martijn, is it K9 or L9 we're talking about? Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: Type1/DVK on April 16, 2008, 15:42:31 pm I got to have a look wich is the worse..
The throttleplates are bent with all 4. Quote 1005.426 (throttle shaft) x 2 (if both are tweaked) 64005.091 (butterfly) x 4 (if all are bent) 64570.009 (butterfly screws) x 8 (never re-use) 41570.001 (bearing dust boot) x 4 (need to be replaced when servicing shafts and bearings) 4x New Bearings! 55520.004 (shaft lock washers) x 4 (never re-use) 41705.021 (carb cover gaskets) x 2 ( in case his rip or are shrunk) I think you are done with this! Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: Diederick/DVK on April 16, 2008, 16:20:58 pm Bent on all 4?
You mean both carbs are f*cked? So, you need to replace all of em? Title: Re: 67-Indeed's 48IDA's probzz Post by: Jim Ratto on April 16, 2008, 16:34:36 pm oh no. :(
