Title: Slicks screws, what kind??
Post by: RMS Boxer Service on April 19, 2008, 11:14:46 am
I'm helping a friend drilling his Erco wheels for secure screws for the slicks, but what kind of screws are you guys using and what size??
I planning on drilling 6 holes on each side og the wheel..  I looked at Summitracing website but did'nt find any secure screws for slicks.

Thanks for looking.

I used regualr sheet-metal screws (self-tapping screws, that is) about 10mm long. Drill the rim, inflate the tyre to pressure then wind in the screw so that it bites into the tyre. Don't drill into the tyre itself...

If you want to get some from Summit, search for SUM-G1496 or SUM-G1495.

Thanks for your replies ! I'll go to the local hardware store tomorrow and find some sheet metal screws.
I have just been informed that 6 screws on each side of the rim proberly is'nt enough acording to National
Dragracing Club Denmark rules ( same rules as in Sweden).

Thanks for the hint where to find the Screws on Summit Racing's website, they call them rim screws, I searched
for slicks screws ;). Good PDF file with instructions on Summit's website.
