Title: Tires, Tiger, Size and Space.
Post by: BeetleBug on April 22, 2008, 08:14:20 am
Hi guys,

I have always liked the way Tiger Rag top car looks - it`s hard and mean, just the way I like them  8) Those huge Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT slicks look fantastic on his car. But what has he done to make them work?

The data for the tire is;

Tire Size Tread; 26x 9.50-15LT
Width Approx; 8"
Dia Approx; 26.1
Rim Measured; 6-8"

Does he use long axles or spacers? I would have guessed that such a huge tire on the BRM`s would touch the spring plate if not.

Thanks.

The exhaust is a custom sidewinder he made for himself, as for the wheels, If I remember correctly they are Flat Four BRMs and short axles.

Thanks! No spacers behind the wheels? And does anyone know the ET on the Flat Fours?

I'm pretty sure those are regular 5" FF BRM's... and no I dont think he drives it like that. Those tires are massive, once you see it in real life you will assume the same ;)

team97 got it right....I called to get the straight scoop.  According to Tiger, it was blind luck that it all fit.  No spacers, 5" Flat4 rims, original brakes and spring plates.  Enjoy it while you can...911 Fuchs alloys and M&H's are coming soon. :o 8) 8) 8)

Thank you guys...! Highly appreciated. So it`s all about the look and no function..... I guess the ride can be pretty interesting with a tire/rim combo like the one he use.

Hey Sarge, I've known Tiger since we were 16 years old, all of his cars had the tuck just right with big ass tires on the back and yes he does drive it like that.

On a similar note, 235 M&Hs 6" wide Bogarts with equal backspace and short axles? 215s look a little skinny for my taste.

To most of us old farts that built cars in the '70s/'80s, that's just a normal Cal Look front and rear. Also my fave way for the stance and track width to sit.

I'll stand corrected.... but the only driving I've seen that car do since he put the fat rubber on was off and on the trailor ;) ::)

Hey Glenn,  how about setting Zach straight on Tiger trailering his car around...that's not right!  I remember him driving to my place and on to the Grandnational Roadster Show in Pomona last year and that it drizzled on the way home...BIG FUN with those slicks on the freeway :o :o :o YIKES!!!

Yeah Sarge, I remember Tiger showing up @ your place, that drizzly, damp morning @ your place.... ON THOSE SLICKS
Then the deluge on the way home after the GNRS.... I had enough 'fun' on my all-weather radials, can't imagine the drive on those steamrollers...  more power to Tiger.

and BTW that exhaust sounded like Satan on steroids.
