There were 2 variations of the same motor.  #1 was a 2387 with fk87 and 9-1 compression.  The heads were a set of Mike Fischer ported 044's.  A light car went 11.60's at 115mph.  The second version was a 2276 with the same heads, 5.325" rods and chevy journals made 180hp on the dyno with a k8.  The second version was a great street motor that pulled from off idle with ida's and 40mm venturies.

I don't remember if this was posted here or on the clf.  The roach is on it's way to an 11.90 pass at 2200 feet up in Tucson.  Ran a best of 11.61 @115mph.  This was with the 2387 version.

1600cc, 110x1.25, 8.5:1, AJ Sims 044 40x35.5, 44idfs, 1 1/2" merge. In my light daily driver '67 bug went 14.8 @ 88mph. It is still running in my friends stock weight '67, we drove it to Drag Day (about 900 miles round trip) and averaged about 30mpg.

Nope, Engle 110. It would nail the 6500 rev limiter in 1st and 2nd really easy.

Here is the motor installed in my friends '67. We put 40idfs with update kits, match ported tall manifolds, and a 2 1/4" muffler when it went to his car. Made more torque down low, same hp this way. He needs an 010 in there...

I've driven a few good motors but in terms of my own I've had two versions of the same combo and it's been a pretty good ride so far. Basically it's a low compression 2332cc motor which in it's original guise did just over 30,000 miles. This year it got refreshed as we were curious to see how it was doing and wanted to make a couple of changes. The spec is for a daily type car (though, unfortunately I am unable to use it as such right now) so there were some limitations on what could be done.

In DAS Drag Day in Bitburg this year it went 13 exactly as it was driven there. In fact I filled the tank on the way back to the track from the Burger King, left the spare in the car, ran 32psi or so on (shit) treads and just for a laugh used a 009 which meant I ran out of ignition before I ran out of cam. That was its 'run in' mileage. It has since gone mid 13's in the 100's on 3 gears and looking at the tickets it'll go quicker. I've been nursing GT box which is more or less stock for over 6 years which means I can't really launch it too hard. This winter I'll probably switch the ignition over and get the gearbox refreshed and strengthened. On the road it's a really easy drive and returns around 26mpg running at 65c. Out on the motorway it's great, get it up to 105 or so and there's another gear! ;D

It's got some pretty good stuff in it but more important than that is the knowledge that's in it. The latest refresh includes thinking and ideas from, in no particular order Pete Englezos, Max Morley and Richie Webb and they all know a thing or two about making power. (Thanks)!

With a close ratio box and some compression this thing would be dangerous! :o

The eingine i have now, I am hoping will be!, 2332, fk89, comp eliminator heads, IDAs...

But, the one I had most fun with to date was a 1600 twin port with 100 cam and progressive weber :D, it only let me down once, felt like a rocket ship when replacing the old 1200 and covered over 15000 miles per year during uni. I thought it was sooo fast at the time.  :)

or

2165 VW/Rimco rods, Brazil case, Clyde Berg 44 x 37 044's, 9.8:1, 48IDA's, new 1.75" exhaust,. Pauter R6E8 with Scat 1.25

This motor became the 1915 that currently powers the rebuilt car. Same specs with a 120 cam, 8.8:1, and 48's with the 010. Pulls over 7k in a hurry, and has great torque. In hindsight, the 1600 was a little soft down low. I think this combo is the perfect all around "cheap" cal look engine.

Well, I´ve driven a few, as I have built engines for over 20 years now (!)

- The best engine, hmmmm, one of the best if not the best is my 170 hp 2260 type 4 version. It is very powerfull at all times, very easy to drive, loads of torque, runs cool, reasonably fuel efficient, will do 150 km/h all day long if you want it to.

An original 1200cc engine , origins unknown. Changed the heads for dual port, doghouse schroud on it and a propane powered turbosystem.
The turbo was of a 1400 cc peugeot diesel engine and it made the car pull like a diesel aswel, torque over the entire revrange. car ran great on the street and better on the track.  The slalom on EBI was great with the responsive engine. At ddd it ran a 15,25.

The engine died in a spectacular backfire. ignited the intaketrack which was filled from top to bottem with the perfect mixture. the hood flew from the car. EVERY, yes evere, hose burst. the axle from the turbo just snapped in half.
Talking about going out with a bang
