Title: Wanted: Porsche 356/912 oil filler-breather
Post by: Rennsurfer on June 25, 2008, 16:17:53 pm
Looking for something like this:
Don't care if it's used or new. Either Berg or factory. Silly question, but does a Porsche one fit on a Type 1 upright engine? And if so, is an adapter required? Just looking for something to route my breather hoses to the valve covers but looks factory.

So hopefully, I can get one with only two hose fittings.

Thanks in advance.

An adapter is required. I don't know of any adapters are currently being made, but Slinger is working on them ;)

I would be intressed in one of those as well.

Bummer... I was hopin' they were gonna be easier to acquire. Guess I'll have to contact some of my old P.C.A. friends. The adapter sounds even more difficult to get.

What about this Aluminium one from CSP???
Looks quite like a VW product, it's an easier fit and is very light... ( but it IS quite expensive $€$€ )

Itīs also very high quality. And it looks SO much better in real life compared to the picture. The only reason I did not fit it to my car is that you have to modify it to fir a 6V genarator stand.

WOW, I didn't realize that C.S.P. offered one, too. Just as much money as Berg's. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Guess the search shall continue.

I have been slowly working on making an adapter for a 356/912 breather tower. At first I was planning on using the stock type 1 breather nut, similar to Bergs setup. but I've heard from a lot of guys that their are a lot of leakage issues. I'm leaning towards a weld on base, fewer gaskets, fewer leaks, right.  8)

FYI this DOES NOT ADAPT A 356C/912 BREATHER TO A VW GENERATOR STAND. It's meant to adapt a 356c/912 breather to an early 356a/b generator stand.

It's almost $100 more that the Berg one but they probably have them in stock.
