Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: Zach Gomulka on November 01, 2006, 02:52:30 am It depends on the car! I love my scooped '67 decklid, I wouldnt trade it for anything! Convertible lids are great too- they dont disturb the lines of the car, yet still give the IDA's the air they need :) I think these look great on a cal look oval...

Post by: The Ideaman on November 02, 2006, 07:22:02 am The Jade Grenade had an NOS 58-63 vert decklid. It was in red lead with the ink stamp when I got it. I almost didn't want to have it painted.
Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: alex d on November 02, 2006, 10:06:41 am convertible for me, now, if someone has a '64 vert lid...tell me!!!
Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: Jon on November 02, 2006, 15:24:39 pm I don't dare say what I'm going to use on my car... :D
BTW, what year did the boys start driving without decklids ? Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: Gregor/DFL on November 02, 2006, 16:00:20 pm I prefer Convertible and I mounted it on my 65...
but I also like the Scoop´d Empistyle one. The nicest one to keep the smooth lines of a bug is definetly the stock one-but enigne gets to hot on the Autobahn-the Cabrio Lid downs the Oiltemp. 10-15 degrees Cel. in the Autobahn in summertime. Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: The Ideaman on November 02, 2006, 16:42:01 pm There is a 64 vert lid on the samba now.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=379453 The seller is Dave Cormack's friend, "Dr. Decklid". Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Realy !! :o :o I will but a convertible lid for olitemp, but I never think enought !! that's a good news for me, if I can win 10-15 degrees less !! Thank's Gregor Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: NoBars on November 02, 2006, 23:17:33 pm I really dig the 67 scooped decklid from the paint box. I am in the usa, Anyone know how i can get one? Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: Shubee2 (DSK) on November 03, 2006, 06:41:10 am Who Makes That 67 Deck lid? The Shape fits very well with the 67 shape
Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: Zach Gomulka on November 03, 2006, 07:15:28 am Who Makes That 67 Deck lid? The Shape fits very well with the 67 shape I know AutoHaus used to. At least I know Ive seen a decklid like that with a AutoHaus label glassed into the inside. I dont know where mine came from- other then the previous owner ;D Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: El Diablo Gris on November 04, 2006, 19:32:34 pm I had a NOS "58 lid for mine too, and I couldn't bring myself to altering it in any way. My friend Matt took my original '58 lid and "slightly modified" it ! ;)
All metal - hand pounded "D-cups" and grafted vert vents. Also a cowl vent from a late model to let the 993 fan breath a little better! ;D It's my favorite part of my car. Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: El Diablo Gris on November 04, 2006, 19:34:15 pm One more completed.
Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: Zach Gomulka on November 04, 2006, 19:47:46 pm I think that cowl vent is my favorite part of your car too ;) Great idea, even the shape of it fits well right there.
Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: jick on November 04, 2006, 19:50:04 pm yeah....nice thinking dude......its cool to see people putting that extra bit of creativity in.

Sadly the car wasn't so lucky! :'( Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: bugnut68 on November 17, 2010, 23:13:14 pm Darrell Baker's former "D-Cup" '58 deck lid is now part of my collection. Sadly the car wasn't so lucky! :'( Any ideas where the car is now? I remember seeing what happened to it when it was thrown on Ebay with a whole bunch of god-awful "improvements" by the seller at the time, but never heard anything after. Title: Re: The Perfect Decklid??? Post by: rick m on November 18, 2010, 13:06:44 pm I did my own eyebrow style a little different. I did not like the long slots so I made one out of a 67 deck lid I had in my stash. Here are some shots of the primered, unpainted version.
