Title: 44 x 37.5 welded VW heads
Post by: Jim Ratto on July 06, 2008, 19:17:31 pm
OEM VW castings, welded above and below intake, 44 x 37.5 Manley, 53cc, cut for VW-diameter dual or Erco triples, with matching Scat Trak tall big-base 48IDA manifolds. All work by Jeff Denham in Stanton. Intakes resemble old Lonnie Reed "wedgeports", big exhaust ports. On a 2276 with 9.3:1 and Web 86C, 48IDAs and muffler, these heads went 12.66 on pump gas in street-weight Bug. Freshened up last May, one spring change since. About 8,600 miles since with FK45 and 1.25

Hi UD....actually, these are heads that I did start to port myself before I was divorced up north, then had to get rid of them before I finished them....only had two intake ports done, but no exhaust, chamber, or seat grind. My friend sent them to Berg, they "checked my work" on the bench, he said they flowed 206 at 28"? on my ports, so he paid them to finish them, and I got them back for basically nothing. I used a set of 872's to "copy" off of back 5 yr ago.... got the chance to run big heads I ported (or started to) and couldn't resist.
You're still my favorite.  I'll try and keep your phone ringing off the wall still   8)
Yes, I was always happy with numbers those sleep heads made.....thank you UD,
Jim :)

Nice heads , i still do this work for only a few customers . Very expensive but you get the most horse power because everything you need is inside the ports :-)
