Title: wich gearbox Post by: henk on July 15, 2008, 21:19:39 pm hallo
i had my first go on the 400 meter in chimay i only road once because i drove my car over there and had to get back home i did a 16.70.the engine is a 1776 with stock heads and valves so i am happy whit that for my first time but offcourse i want to go faster so next time i gonna put some lower tyres on it. i am also running the stock '67 gearbox so slightly longer geared but should it make a big diffrence if i use a shorter geared gearbox like on a '65or'66???? Title: Re: wich gearbox Post by: Bruce on July 16, 2008, 00:40:20 am Is your 67 gearbox originally from a 1500cc car? If it is, it has a 4.12 R&P. Going to a 4.37 R&P from a 1200/1300 car will get you down the track faster.
Another way to go faster is to upgrade the heads/cam so your rpm range is increased. Then make the run in 3 gears only. Title: Re: wich gearbox Post by: Bewitched666 on July 16, 2008, 11:50:21 am Faster is a combo between engine and gearbox and driver ;D
Swapping for a 4.37 gearbox is an option and less costly then upgrading the engine. I would do both for more 1/4 fun ;D Title: Re: wich gearbox Post by: henk on July 16, 2008, 18:57:18 pm the gearbox is the originele one from the 1300 engine
