Title: Type 3 Self Adjustabel Brakes
Post by: Bugace on August 01, 2008, 15:28:34 pm
Hi
I modified this question, since I now have learned I'm looking for the same Adjuster Screw, and Adjuster lever that have been delivered at some Type 3's. This is a link to a drawing, showing the two parts I need!! Please anyone!!

I think what that illustration is showing is typical types of rear brake setups... that is not a rear vw type 3 brake setup, you can see early & late exploded views on my site...

thanks anthony, because i was confused as well...

what do you have. can you take a pic and show us or PM me. if you need the screws that go into the bottom off the brakes they are the same as type1 brakes. i think the screws themselves may be a little shorter on some models, but i have never had problems using those.

to sum it up a bit you need the folowing parts

-backingplate with two adjustable screws in the bottom metal piece
-two brake shoes, one with the arm for the handbrake (that is not supplied with brake shoes)
- two springs at the bottom
- lateral supportbar with spring and clip at the top to space the brakeshoes correctly.
- connecting studs and springs to keep the shoes centered. those are also the same as beeltles and come readily available in a kit wiith the other springs as well.
- drum (one piece for 5 stud, two parts (center and drum) for later 4 lug drums)
