Title: Der Werkscallooker - The factory cal looker
Post by: Mario/DKT on August 18, 2008, 11:41:51 am
Hey guys,
the lowlight is finished. On wednesday i will start my new project...
A 1967 squareback, A-model with sunroof!!! Yes...

He start his life in germany as a company car of 'Pomps Kindergries'. Next - in private hands, he was pimped to the end of the 80's style with a yellow painting (inside and the complete pan  :-\). Then he was sold to sweden. The new owner have collect 4 NOS fenders and a NOS rear hood. The squareback is stored since 1991.

The plan is to build a callooker (what else...?). The A-model has no side chrome trim, no rocker trim too, no bumper guards - so it is a factory cal looker ;).
I have the complete finished car in my mind... and the first part's for the project are ordered...

On wednesday i make a trip to south sweden to pick up the squareback.
Stay tuned...

Itīs actually an A-model. N was only available 64-65 then it was A. Anyway itīs a rare model.

If i remember correctly it had been driven less than 3000 km from 1971-1991.

Bad news... and accident stops me yesterday. God damn snow.
My right shoulder is completely damaged. Needs a operatoin these days.
Doctor say's 'NO works for a couple of weeks...'
Shit!!!

Maybe the sandblaster and the painter do his jobs very well and i can start completition in february or march, if my arm works like before.

After the second operation on tuesday this week i can do just small job's.
I started with the headliner at the inside of the sunroof (i just need my hand's, not my arm's).
Small steps are part of the whole project...

hmm...small movements with my right poor are possible (maybe 50%). Not more. The doctor say's this need's time. Have to go 2-3 times a week to a physiotherapist  for gymnastic's. He says which i will reach never 100% :-\. But i work hard...

The project is still waiting for the NOS sheet metal for the rocker. We cut the old sheet metal off, to see what's happen with the rocker in the meantime (the sheet metal was welded on in 1990). Looks good - need's just a little sandblasting and a cup full of wax.
I have organized the perfect NOS sheet metal, but the current owner is not the fastest with shipping  :-[
Will post pictures from the progress...

Nice project. I've planned to mount 145R15 tires on 5,5 wheels too, you did that without any problem ?

They go on the wheels, the issue is that the rim sticks out past the tire.

Currently I run 155s on 5,5, , it will do it a lot more with 145s ?

I had 145 during a few time, but on 4,5 wheels so there was no problem for the mounting. Now with my 155 on 5,5 I struggled a little to put them on the wheel  :D I will see with 145. Thanks guys  ;).
