Title: A Word of Caution????
Post by: plasticblack on August 25, 2008, 11:36:41 am
Just a word of Caution for other Lounge members  ;)

If you get offered any Empi stuff from France for about 200 Euros.

Don't make the mistake I did and send the Money, trusting that I would receive the parts...

If you do get what you paid for, you will have done better than I did..............

WHEN WILL I EVER LEARN........ >:(

Hi Fabs

Great to see you at the weekend  :)  Your car is awesome.. I love the engine simply beautiful  ;D

When somebody I've sent Money to, tells me they haven't received it? I take that as a firm statement.

I would have expected them to check everything out... BEFORE making the statement... NOT AFTERWARDS.

The Money was sent by Registered Mail so obvioulsy I have a reciept for it.

I always try to be helpful to sellers, but sometyimes it just doesn't work out.

This is one of those times...

No matter for me the matter is now closed.  I should have learnt my lesson after this many years?  ::)

Other buyers will have to make their own minds up about their own particular deals.  ;)

I'm not here to post/spread rumour or speculation.

I merely inform about MY specific situation.

I would expect my matter to be resolved happily very shortly.  ;D

We are only a few nostalgia parts collectors in France, so we can assist you. Let us know, we probably know him and send him an email, or phone him. Maybe it is only misunderstanding.

How can it be a rumour if it happened to you?

The situation is that agreed to buy some Empi items from a guy in France.

We negotiated a price (200 euros) to include shipping.

I was asked to send the payment to an Address near Paris, which I did registered.

I am now being told that the money has not been received.

I should point out at this time, that on the same day, I also sent payments to 2 sellers in Germany, 3 in the USA and 1 in England.

All those payments were recevied without a problem?

It is up to fellow Lounge members to decide if they like me, feel this is credible scenario ::)

I'm out of the country at present and unable to check with postal services my end (which I will do on my return)

I'll consider the money a lost cause and chalk it up to experience.

It's a mistake I'll not make again and I hope fellow Lounge members will also not make in the future.

I'd like to thank the fellow members that mailed me privatley and gave me valuable information regarding French transactions.

As they say 'BUYER BEWRE'... :(

like most of us here in the UK i buy lots of parts from the states and even using the exact same shipping methods some things can arrive in 5 or 6 days......some things can take 3 or 4 weeks.....so it MIGHT just be that?  its possible....

also, if you sent it registered can you not find out if it has been signed for as received yet?    i'm sure you've thought of that though....

good luck dude....

As I've said, I'm not at home currently and can't check the registered details until I'm home in about 3 weeks time,

I've given up the money as lost anyway, and am not at all interested in continuing/completing any kind of further such deal, now or in the future.

I've been passed enough information by fellow Lounge members to alert me to the previous problems encountered with similar deals and will therfore confine my future purchasing mainly to the UK & USA.

People are obviously fully entitled to continue buying wherever they see fit. That said, I wish I had been aware of the information I've been sent BEFORE agreeing to buy the items.

It would have saved me 200 Euros... ::)

if posted from the UK, you have a choice of airsure or international signed for, the second traces upto delivery, with electronic proof depending on country.
