Title: new engine project..2275ccm with STD heads...
Post by: Tom G. on September 10, 2008, 10:08:15 am
Hi Guys,

i am a fan of really good tourque stuff..So my last 1955ccm engine was a hell of tourque from 2000-5500 rpm...

Now its time to get more HP but not with so much rpm..
1. i want to drive it really in the city, not all day, but with some traffic...so Daily driven is the key factor...some 1/4 mile at the weekend, freeway and highway to meetings...
2. So buttom end tourque have to be a must...for me...

So i have at the moment my 48 IDAs with 34chokes, short intake manifolds, dds style linkage, mallory hyfire 6 ignition on my 1955cmm..it function really well

So is it possible to get a HP range of 150-160HP out of a 2275ccm with STD valve heads 35,5x32) and a W120-W125?Other cam solution?

The heads should get good HD single springs, SS valves, good head job...

Best ET full weight 63 beetle 15,5s @ 87mph (1955ccm engine)

So any other Ideas???

Let me know

Bye
Tom

I'd keep the valves fairly small, but certainly not those standard ones. 40x35.5 would be my choice. Otherwise the heads could get hot and you won't be getting the best out of the IDAs.

Hi , the operating RPM's of a 35.5 intake valve in a 2275  will be about 2000-4000 RPM with the seat / throat going into sonic choke way before ( meaning power will take a big nose dive ) before 5000,

even if you were to port out the heads, leaving the 35.5mm intake is a big restriction point.  a 40mm valve at the minimum or your wasting your time.

Hope this helps.
