It's because ther is no gear lube getting to the rear axle bearings - SSOB  >:( DW

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Too funny. I don't know which is more lame... stuffing the heater channel with cotton balls or the axle bearings running dry from too much negative camber.

Rat Rods & Hood Rides = the mullet of the new age. In a few years, they'll all look back and go, "Oh my God, what was I thinking?"

Instead of rat , they should be called {mouse} short for micky mouse. But I remember asking one of my mentors back about 30-35 years ago if he would help me lower the front of my first vw. same thing kinda WTF.

Amen to THAT. Clearly, they're not.

So... is this what Keith S. drives when he's not in his VW?

Yep, your numbers are rather generous, Danny. Hell, I was thinkin' more along the lines of worthless, But hey... if someone is willing to pay $5k for someone else's abortion, then so be it. There's one born every minute, yes?

HOLY COW! I just stumbled across the thread that those pics came from. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! The guy that owns this um... "car" is whining and saying that everyone that insulted him isn't gonna a part of his "club" and some other funny stuff. Too funny. God, I love the 'Net. Where people say things they never would in person. Oh yeah... he posted that it's his choice if he wants to die in his "car" and his "club" is for people that think outside of the box. Wow.

Check out what the rest of the um... "car" looks like.

The trophy, bumper (rear overriders), and hood bling just kill me. The aux. red light is trick, too. The best part... the lowered bumper. Yes, you read correctly. Look at the bumper. Taking it to an all time LOW. I can't stop laughing.

Indeed... I would also blame the Continental Eco Contact tires... they are so eco friendly they don`t go abow 50mph.

HaHA!! That's funny.

In the end, the owner found out that his ignition timing was way off and now the car goes faster than 50mph. Which frightens me, in a car that low. But... to each their own.

My old Karmann Ghia was fairly low but nowhere near that - even so I still caught the beam a couple of times on stuff in the road like cats eyes... That is just stupid IMO, and the biggest problem I have is that the car probably wasn't in too bad condition before these idiots got their hands on it. >:(

Holy cow! You're right, Sarge. In my haste to zing Keith, I didn't take the time to notice the door(s), or lack thereof.

Sheesh. I love when people modify their cars so much that they end up being non-functional. Hey, maybe that's a new name for rides in that catagory... dysfunctional cars. So they can but the FUN in dysfunctional.

saddest part of all, this car was once in perfect condition on a dealer lot or showroom floor.

there should be a rescue program for these fucking piles of shit. Like abused dog rescue, but for these poor cars.

Wait... I just thought of something; if someone's gonna go through all of that trouble to have so many illegal violations on one car, then WHY bother with the front license plate? D'OH!

YESSIR! That would be COOL! Either leave the outside stock or slightly lower the front end, put my A-1 exhaust on there, and have the rear wheels widened... left black/white, of course. Put some Hella H4 headlights on and let the fun begin. No matter what, put some decent handling shocks and swaybars on, too. And throw in a built transmission.

God, I miss my Java Green car. Such a great color. That car in the pictures looks exactly like my best friend's car. He showed it at the Classic. His is a little cleaner and more correct. I'm real close to convincing him to add BRMs and lowering the front end on his car. He drove mine the other day and loved it.

Mark, what color interior did your Java '66 have?  My car is an original Java/Gazelle (tan) interior, and I can't imagine it any other way.  Even if that restored car that's for sale had black originally, I think I'd have to change it to tan.

That interior looks AWESOME! Mine, believe it or not, was a white one. In the States, I had never seen a car with that color combo. But my car was originally sold in Berlin... so I figured that Europe got different colors than we did. I once saw an Italian '67 Beetle that had a brown interior with Lotus White paint. Brown was really rare in this country. My orange '66 was originally that color combo, too.

Black, tan, or white all look really good with Java Green in my opinion.

Nah, what you really need to do to be cool is to lower the car until the floor sits on the ground, pour paint stripper all over it followed by salt water, then add a roof rack covered in the contents of your grannys attic - THEN you'll be as cool as the Hood ride kids... ;)
