Last night finally found the time to check the annoying sound that came from my 2.0ltr. type4 engine.
It seems that the exhaust was not attached to cylinder number 3 anymore, one stud is broken and one fell out (no thread in the cylinder head anymore). :'(
The studs of cylinder number 3 (and some other) where (due to similar problems before) already changed to M10 instead of M8.

Has someone an idea how to fix this properly?
-   Should I weld the head and fix new thread?
-   Should I use a helicoil?
-   Should I use some kind of special glue? (loctite)

This would be the best idea , helcoil m8 another if the bore is not too big for it

hi,
if im right you must open your head to M 12 for the helicoil- not a good idea >:(
but what about building your own stud, one side M10 and the other side M8, it is easy to build and you only need your head to open to M10.

Thanks for your reply, one thing i did not tell you guy's yet; a few of these studs allready are M10 studs :o (not sure this one to).
I ordered a Helicoil set today, and try to fix it with helicoils (hoping it's not allready M10).

Yes i know it's a type4 thing, that is why i allready have a few M10 studs.
As told in my previos post, i will try to fix it with helicoils. Fingers crossed here.

If you need m10 to m8 take Type1 rockerstuds  ;) Good luck
