Didn't know about him untill I read the story on the DSR/RDW. Then found out he had made loads more fun drawings of fun VW's. Don't we all know the Autohaus orange Bug with the big nosed racer. I did the design, and lettering, he supplied the illustration. It was a honor to work with him. I built his models when i was a kid, read his cartoons as a teen, and had been an admirer of his ever since. He was very approachable, generous, and a pleasure to collaborate with. He was a icon and one of my heros.
