Title: Outlaw Flat Four 2008 Season DVD
Post by: ESH on October 23, 2008, 21:25:52 pm
QuarterMileHigh (http://www.quartermilehigh.com/), (the guys that do the UK drags filming for Sky Sports) do a few DVD's of various events and classes every year and this time round they've done the Outlaw Flat Four season...

"The Outlaw Flat Four club is one that we quickly recognised as having so much of what we like to film in drag racing.  Very fast cars running heads up, with the sort of professionalism you would expect from a club that had been together many years.  We followed the Outlaw Flat Four for the 2008 season, and the full DVD will be available mid-November".

I don't have a release date yet for it but as soon as I know I'll bung it up here and it'll probably be up on the Outlaw site at some point too, alternatively anyone interested keep an eye on the  QuarterMileHigh (http://www.quartermilehigh.com/) website.

Sounds very cool.

Any chance that these will be available somewhere on the US side of the pond and in NTSC format?

Thanks!

I checked one one of the distributors web sites,  Duke Video (http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/DVD/Drag/Outlaw-Flat-Four-2008-DVD.aspx) and it's only listed in PAL as I thought but I can find out from the production company what the possibility is of doing a run in NTSC and what sort of number they'd have to do.

I think the conversion from PAL to NTSC is quite a long winded process and doub't they will entertain the idea unless there are thousands to be sold. Just what I have been told by someone in production.

Haven't you US guys got multiregion DVD's players?
My player I bought 10 years ago plays NTSC and others no probs!

Some standalone DVD players here are region freea, while others are not. If nothing else, now that I think about it, I don't think it would be much of an issue to buy a PAL version DVD, rip it to a hard drive in a PC, then burn myself a NTSC copy using one of the many different CD/DVD burning apps that are available.

I see that Duke Video appears to be a UK based company, but they also look to have a US-based branch -- http://www.dukevideousa.com. The Outlaw FF DVD is not listed on their US site at this time, but I'll give them a call and see if they will be distributing copies of the DVD in the US.

Thanks again,

I just got confirmation back from the production company that they can do an NTSC version, they have said thay can add the option on the sales form on their website,  QuarterMileHigh (http://www.quartermilehigh.com/). So it looks like that's a 'yes' then.

Watched the video last night and have to say that it is amazingly well put together and the racing is top-notch. As for the interviews I believe everyone did really well and are a credit to the club. It came across that everyone is there for fun as well as racing and that it's all about community and helping each other out. Well done boys  and girls 8)

Actually I'm not sure I like this DVD at all now, as my 3 year old son having watched some of it this morning, asked why my car was so slow and why I don't win any races!
Looks like I need to go a bit quicker next year then, as I don’t suppose the rest of you are planning on slowing down.

Pete, on are far more amusing note he wants to know why you keep breaking down!

Oh and Dave your car is his favourite.
