Title: IP1, what colour was it really ?
Post by: Russell on October 25, 2008, 01:02:09 am
I know it says it was orange but sort of looks red in some photos, wondered if anyone new the actual colour of this car ?

I think you need to look back at what Molly was using at the time, 1970. Most of those paint jobs were done over a white pearl base, to give the candy colors a kick in the sun. I would say, the color you are asking about was known as candy tahitian orange. Now there could have been some fading done around the edges, with a darker color. And tons of clear on top. If you want to know more.... you might track down Harvey Weidman in Orrville, CA, who used to work for Molly when he was based in La Habra. He restores Porsche 911 wheels. Sarge knows him and his brother Big Al.

Oops, sorry. I just re read your headline. I thought you were talking about the IP2.

I would be also interested in learning what is the colour in earlier version.

or
2) Im going to build a correct replica.
