I would run the 145. More tire width and a more comfortable ride,..but not by much. It would be safer too. 135 is nice for a compact spare,..but that JMO

ZX is for a 2CV... XZX is where it's at.

For me it's all about what you can find. I'd go for the XZX purely because I prefer the tread pattern, but if I couldn't find them then I'd get the ZX. Width-wise, it would have to be the 145 on a 5" rim - 135's should only go on a 3.5" Centerline or Erco IMHO.

XZX 145's for sure.... not much for handling, but they look right.

So what's better handling 135/145 sized front tyre then? Firestone? I've only run ZXZs due to easy availability..

I think we said about this a while ago - I prefer the Michelins over the F560 Firestones. I find the Michelins grip better, but I have only ever run them on balljoint cars (my '60 got written off before I fitted the wheels). Tim C said the opposite but he ran them on linkpin.

Neither of those sizes are what I'd call "handling" tires.... they're "Cal Look" tires ;).  To get handling, you need tires with an aspec ratio (a percentage of the tires height is subtracted and added to it's width ie 155/50x15), but over here, these types of tires are hard to come by and if things aren't quite right with the front end set-up, may rub.  Then there's rim width... a 145 stretched out over a 5" wide Flat Four BRM looks um, stretched...the tread is narrower then the wheel width, so that would be even worse with a 135 on the same rim.  It's impossible to get a tire to "handle" in a situation like that.   As for the Michelin / Firestone debate, I'll take the Michelins.

Possibly because of the balljoint front end on your car, Sarge? :)
