despite the rumours, I haven't touched my 'lately' for days :P

We ran our last race less than two weeks ago, and now the engine is out and apart, the trans is out, the suspension is disassembled and parts either have been ordered or already delivered as preparations for next season have begun

Mmmmmmmm............ 2 inch CB beam, ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks, cb wide five discs, Scott Sebastion rebuilt trans, T 3 rear brakes, the 1914 out of my old Fastback, centerline, new tires, poly seats........

Just got back from a trip to a friends to help him take his axles off. Most recent thing I've done is pulled the engine and temporary trans Oct.19th and put my newly rebuilt trans from Jim Kaforski, went to 3.88 weddle main shaft and so on. Ran drag day on the 26th had fun but only ran a 7.90 at 86mph ( 1/8th mile of course) that day still not bad for a street car. Put a new side view mirror on it last Sunday. Also changed the DOT's to radials last Sunday. That's about it lately..... AND YOU?

Did my first rebuild on a set of dells'.  Tune up. Put on the sidewinder ( not very cal-look but its nice). Found some type III brakes, now looking for the wheels to match.

Fix the alternator and am busy with my 1904 engine 8)

Finished building one of the doors, got most of the other one built (window winder still to go). Tried to find parts I've got but put away somewhere safe (Lucas indicators) and bought some more bits that I thought I'd got but hadn't.

New alternator pulley, some carb tuning, painting vent wings and related items for that porsche look, new wiring cover, trunk liner and vintage tool kit. Driving it on my favorite roads of course!!

adjusted brake shoes and valves and shooed cats out of it last weekend.

I rebuilt my 010 distributor and installed some Bosch 90 degree ends on the plug wires.  I sure like the look now.

thinkin about goin all yellow with white walls so everybody can bitch about that ;D

New engine is in, pumped for oilpressure. Made all new oil, gas and breather lines, re-wired the alt and rear lights, twin oilcoolers and fans are ready, brackets for Kaefer-bar are done. Now working on lambda wiring, plug cables and CSP linkage.
New front fenders and modified decklid are off to the painter, and i have to install aluminum door panels done by Cedric.
That's about it.

Installed a Berg Shifter, and a Original EMPI Engine brace bar  8)

I didn't post pics of the complete "overhaul". Just here and there on diff. topics like Late models (engine lid) and something about the twin cooler/fan combo. Maybe i post some pics when the car is up to standard. ::)

Bought some engine odds and ends this weekend at the Bug Jam. Getting ready to order my heads today.

Well I just put my car back on the road since my fronttrain broke down a month ago.  I was cool to hear the 48's IDA's and the straight cut time gearing again.  I missed it.

Where did you find those 90 degree wire ends? I've been wanting a set for my GTV...

I had them in my inventory.  They came on some Magnacore wires that I purchased from the Bergs many years ago.  When the wires went bad I salvaged the ends.  I believe that if you order Bosch plug wires for a Type III you get wires with the 90 degree ends.  Then you just need of fine tune the wire length.

You could just buy some 90 degree plug wire boots from say NAPA and put them on your old wires.

Well, the day before yesteday, I took the Zwit out for a quick cruise with the wife and kids. Me and the boys got our ears lowered, then we cruised over to our friends house, but a few cars to shame stop light to stop light and went home. Yesterday, I took the Zwit out to see a client and drop off some job info. Today, Me and the boys took ole' Zwitty out to visit a friend/client, pick up some small hardware at the plumbing supply, and then we hit Jansen Enterprise in San Carlos to see how Ken was doing. I guess, lately I have been driving it every chance I get. This California weather sucks.

I put gas in mine today, second time this month. I checked the oil last week.

finally shipped it off to the painter last week  ;D

Did my first 13 Minute break-in today, all looks well. No funky valve play/clearance sofar. On to the second 20 minute run.

I just finished the installation of my new Alternator with the cute little boots.  Finally got my updated Berg linkage installed along with some new air cleaners that I had polished.  This kinda gives the engine a new look.  Hope you like it.

Took the heater boxes off and had them cleaned up real well, added a fresh coat of paint, checked the valves cuz I hadn't done it since before the drive to Bug-In ::)(#2 exhaust was a scosh tight, that was it), installed the NOS EMPI hood handle guard (now it looks like my car has a nose), installed the shoulder belt tensioners (maybe I'll actually use them now), dropped a washer down the 3-4 side, retrieved it, and swapped the air jets down from 230 to 185.

Thanks, I really appreciate that.  My back has been giving me problems lately and it wasn't as much fun working on the car as it should have been.

Pulled the engine to stick the rear engine seal in and clean up the fuel lines a bit.

Re-Jetted my carbs as per Jim's specs. Checked float-level once again. Checked basic idle and idle mixture setting.
So tomorrow, the second neighbour-terror for 20 minutes.

All feels good and went well, no weird valve play-s. Engine sounds deafening 8)

Changed window rubber for Cal-Rubbers tonite. Car looks hard.

A couple weeks ago, I put stock torsion bars back in my car and took out all the MSD distributor, coil and digital 6 and replaced them with my trusty 009 and blue coil. Now I'm much happier with the rear ride height and overall ride quality. Plus the 28mm bars and MSD setup will fit nicley on my race car.  ;D

yesterday i dropped some parts off at my worshop and....

moved the two 8 ' x 4'  sheets of steel that had falled against my `59  and scratched it all down one side. ::)

perfect.

Plus i welded up the holes in the drivers door to get rid of that bullet mirror.

This weekend i will be changing the rear torsion bars. (Hopefully after jaw surgery) :-\
After that i have to redo the interiour aka fabricate new seat brackets and install aluminum panels made by "Black Hands" aka Cedric.
Wire up the lamda and more small stuff.

The new air cleaners are NICE!  They really changed the look of the motor. I also like the way you did the linkage mount black. It makes the update kit stand out more and gives greater attention to the crossshaft and heim ends.  Nice update!

My favorite job..... :P  For those of you who missed Deano's column in Hot VW's a while back, the cromoly clutch pedal shaft available from Fumio Fukaya Enterprises is a thing of beauty and well worth searching out (on the left in the pic).  The hook end is much thicker and the shaft end is 12mm or so longer offering more stability for the pedal.  Man, I hate working on stuff with grease and springs >:(

Ive been a busy little bee , Ive chopped out my old solid mount 901 gear box set up ( coz the noise was too much ) and installed my home made front mount on cotton reals .

Just got to source a rear traction bar now . Also been chopping into my A arms again to accept the adjustable coil overs and bolted up a pair of old Koni reds to the front end too  8)

And last but not least me and martin have upped the anti on my motor and increased it from 2007 to 2165 with the help of a few choice bits and bobs

changed my oil on Thanksgiving

It is Krylon "Wrinkle Finish" I've used it on lots of Race-Trim parts, and plenty of the Treuhaft components on the Slingle Cab engine got a coat of this stuff. It wrinkles up best when you use a heat gun on it, after the 3rd light coat ;)

I was waiting 8 weeks for that moment to enjoy ride in my bug and unortunetly I had a very small crash wchich normaly would finish with scrached rim... but bunfortunetly it finished wit bent beam, destroyed whel, smashed wing...

only 30 min in the car afthe nights of dreameing about the car...

the repair is really eassy no problem for me. just the gear is a problem...
I bought a lot for the car lately (external cooler, new fan shroud and other engine tinware, ignition system new seats, eberspacher B1L, linelocks) so I wouldn't be bored... but now have just more work, I love to do that but... it's a lot of doe for me (again)...

I just hope that spindle will be ok, the beam si bent (both pipes) but in my opinion its because the antiroll bar hit the kerbstone afther the wheel so the amin force was taken by it not by spindle (I hope)
